I had the exact same thing. The pain in my tricep and forearm would bring me to my knees. The meds would do nothing. Flexoril would help me sleep at night.

I am glad it worked for you but for others I would suggest Soma because Flexeril never worked as well for me and gave me the WORST cotton mouth. INBFCF.

Surgery was only mentioned if the others didn't work. It wasn't like they recommended it. Just that it was a possibility.
Sorry if I was unclear.

Go see Dr. Oberlander at The Neuromedical Center and get his opinion on what course of action you should take

I would rather have someone whose specialty involves the nervous system treating me when the injury involves the spinal cord than someone whose specialty is the skeletal system.

I saw that you said you didn't have insurance. Can't you now get Obamacare even with your preexisting condition? If so why wouldn't you?

Surgery is always a last resort.

I know orthos who will not cut unless they absolutely have to do it.

Which is as it should be..

Insurance makes you go through the order you described. I had a rupture at L5S1 and ended up with surgery. Dr Eiserloh at br orthopedic did a phenomenal job and I'd recommend him without hesitation.

Short of surgery you can do the epidural a, keep your weight down and strengthen the core and muscles that support your spine. It didn't work for me but everyone is different.

For pain I took Vicodin and Percocet, once I realized I was getting hooked I switched to 4 aleve, it wasn't as good but still immensely helpful.

Good luck man!

I don't want to hurt. I don't want fricking pills. I don't want surgery. I just want to get back to being able to provide for my family.
I was in great health before this. I could lift heavy things with no problem. I used proper technique.
I mean I did damn swing dancing.

I realize I had a rough lot cast to me but I think I had come through pretty all right.

I'm thinking about some 135lb good mornings tomorrow. Nothing like strengthening the core.

Strong abs and strong back will immensely help in the long run.

Your wife can write scripts? Well done brother! What does she not like about it? It is not addictive and doesn't have any real side-effects, besides making you sleep, in my experience. Flexeril mouth is the WORST!

Good luck with all that! I had the same attitude when I first started enduring a recurring herniation between C-6/C-7 8 years ago. Unfortunately, it doesn't matter what you want: your body is going to age & breakdown according to its own plan.

McCarthy is one of the more conservative doctors in Baton Rouge. He won't recommend surgery unless it's absolutely necessary.

I'm broke as a joke right now. Gonna have to live off the settlement from my totaled car for the near future.

I know but our brains work in weird ways. All I am saying is it is worth looking into. I mean....at least read some peoples stories and if they are compelling read Sarnos book.

No doubt you did since you are even alive. I had a shitty year last year but it wasn't as bad as yours, I don't know if I could have made it thru what you did. You are a tough dude.

I am in a similar situation. I was rear ended last March by a 3/4 ton van going 45 while I was stopped at a red light. I have a severe herniated disk a L2-L3 and have done 50 sessions of PT, 3 steroid injections and a RFA procedure all with little relief. Next step is to try a Temporary Spinal stimulator.

Hope you are a patient person because it's going to take time to get through it. Stay way from Chiropractors and any doctors that talks surgery on the first visit.

I only saw the NP today. That was what she told me. I'm suppose to have blood work and the epidural (what's that like anyway?) sometime next week if I get cleared.
