Drive a Chevy Cavalier 2003 every day 50 miles one way.
200000 miles..frame is still good, good pickup, & that is in the NEohio snow belt.

I hear good things about Hyundai and their warranty.

I had a Sorrento. ZERO problems. warranty never needed.

Eventually they sent out a recall letter, said there were problems with air bag and if a certain light pattern happened to bring it in. I eventually sold the vehicle and passed on the warning letter.

Kia and Hyundai are not that bad.

Best bang for your buck, that's not a truck.

I'm in the same boat as you. Live in baton rouge and work in the Nola CBD. I have an 8 month old wrangler so the mileage, fuel cost and comfort of driving every day was killing me.

I went and got a hybrid MKZ with 45,000 miles for commuting. Paid under $15k. The note and Insurance is still $120 cheaper per month than what I was paying in gas and the drive is 100 times better. I actually enjoy it. Plus my Jeep is basically a weekend toy now which is awesome.

We could have gone cheaper and more compact but I test drove a new Prius and it just wasn't comfortable, felt cheap and simply unsafe. I wanted something that could handle the daily interstate driving for a few years and still have comfort/safety. The wife will actually drive it on the weekends sometimes.

Yeah, I'm 90% interstate. It's just for work and I really don't care what it looks like.

I too drive a truck to work daily. I had to get an Elantra for a rental for about a week and it was a pretty fun little car. Peppy, nice features and handled and rode really well. Only downside to Hyundais are the resale or lack thereof value. One of the upsides is that they come well equiped, even at base models.

My wife has a Santa Fe with 50,000 problem free miles so far. My only complaints on it are the road noise from the original Kumho tires, and if you have the drink holder in the back seat open with nothing in it it rattles.

I just bought a 2012 buick verano last week to drive for work. Fun little car, but I hate not having my truck. First time in 20 years that I haven't owned a truck

I can always tell who's gonna get divorced when the husband posts a picture of his compact car on Facebook

That's how it worked out for me. The extra tires, maintenance, and insurance cancelled out the fuel savings. I've come to a point where I want as few things to buy tires for as possible.

I know they've improved, but I still get the impression that Kia and Hyundai are both shite brands

I bought Motorboat's ole Lexus GX 470 and I drive that for work. I've put 30,000 miles on it since September. The only thing I've changed is the oil.

190k on an '09 Altima here. No sense getting anything nice since I commute about 75/miles per day. Averages about 28 mpg combined city/hwy.

Hyundai is the new Honda. 10 years and 100,000 miles is standing behind your brand more than BMW , Mercedes or any other car , including Honda. I've had a BMW , a monster truck , and everything in between. You money will go farther with Hyundai/Kia than any other car. If the goal is to pound mileage on a vehicle reliably they are your best option.

Yep, bought a 2015 Honda Civic. Put about 150 miles a day on it. 20 bucks to fill it up.

Im about to get a new job. Current job is 15 miles away from work. New job is 45 miles away. I have been debating on getting a cheap car to beat everyday but in reality I dont need a "weekend truck".

Say what you want but I bought a prius to go to and from work and its worked out nice so far. I was looking at a Honda Fit at first but the price was right on the prius so I pulled the trigger. I drive from Covington to New Orleans east every while also making sales calls all day. Last year I put 38k miles on the car and I average 44 miles to the gal (only bc I drive 80-85 to and from work).

I was driving my F150 to work and when you combine the car note plus what I spend on gas now, I am now spending a considerable amount less than I was just for the gas in my F150.
