How about compared to this time last year?

Entergy bill was only $17 cheaper on kW compared to last year with same average temp of 81F but we we've from 6 seer POS to 13 seer brand new.

Last year in August when I moved in, the bill was around $180/mo. This months was $235. Auto thermostat settings are the same.

Does anyone know if the solar subsidies are still going on? I'd sure as frick be willing to get a setup. Talked to this old lady a month ago and she said her bill used to be around $230/mo. Spent $3k on a $33k solar system and her summer bill is $50/mo now. Same house, same insulation

I spend no more than $45 a month. Learn to use aluminum foil to insulate. Also, try a giant fan with frozen jugs of water in front of it while you're lounging around and NEVER use your oven in the summer.

I can't get the thing to shut off, SO's dad is an air conditioning/refridgeration man. He has been supposed to come down here and look at it but stuff keeps coming up. So yes we have to wear a sweater in here for now.

didn't this start a few weeks ago, or am I remembering someone else that had the same problem on here?....

regardless, you need to go ahead and pay someone if necessary to get that shite fixed...

Mine was a record-setting high in cost and kwh usage. It's usually $0.08/kwh, but this month it was about $0.10/kwh, and I used 3,718 kwh.

And for a mere $3 a day extra you could be comfortable

WTF
She bought it hot?

Doubt very seriously it was worth 33K. You would never recoup the difference before you would have to replace the panels.

No they had lots of tax incentives etc to buy them, I think they have either been phased out or are being phased out

I still don't think the hassle of owning them is worth it, much less how ugly they are.

Try living in AZ. No way your bill in the summer can be $45. In the winter...yes it is possible(mine are usually $40-50).

Yeah, that kind of shite baffles me. There are so many other things I'd be willing to go without in order to keep my thermostat at 68-70 24 hours a day.

well part of the problem is that Demco opted to begin purchasing their wholesale power from cleco a couple of months ago. that means Demco went from having basically the lowest wholesale power rates to the highest overnight. you can thank your Demco leadership and public service commissioners for approving that deal.

State and feds picked up the first $30k, and she just had to come up with the remaining 3k to get them

We broke the $200 barrier with DIM-CO for the first time ever this month. $235 or so I think. And that was with most of the family out of town for a week. Previous highest was July/August last year at $160. I shudder to think what next month will be with high temps and everybody home from school.

Maybe we'll get lucky and have a hurricane that knocks out the lights for a week. That way, I can run this whole sumbitch on a generator using free farm diesel and tell Demco to kiss my pasty white gangsta arse.

This thread makes me feel better. I started thinking there was something wrong with my house. Mine went from $140 to $260 this month.
