Very big chance of autism after 40. .

There is an increased risk of Autism Spectrum Disorders in women with advanced maternal age, but I wouldn't call it a 'very big chance.' It's still very small. You are also at an increased risk of chromosomal abnormalities (Turner's, Down's, and your other aneuploidies), but still the vast majority of kids turn out 'normal.'

I am 44 and the thought of my wife being pregnant scares the hell out of me. We had our first and only at 35. True blessing as he is healthy and spoiled. I couldn't do all the things that is did for him again with another one. Plus its like a 400% chance for downs syndrome after 40.

Try 1% at 40, increasing each subsequent year by a moderate amount.

ETA:
quote:

At age 25, the risk of having a baby with Down syndrome is 1 in 1,250.
At age 30, the risk is 1 in 1,000.
At age 35, the risk is 1 in 400.
At age 40, the risk is 1 in 100.
At age 45, the risk is 1 in 30.

Jumps to 3% at 45. Or, the other way of saying that is that 97% of kids born to 45 year old mothers do not have Down's.
