He may have meant 400% increase in incidence, but even then, he is overstating.

Thanks for providing some perspective here.

My wife got pregnant at 39, and again at a little past 40. Our doctor pulled out her thick medical books and showed us a similar table about the incidence of Down's Syndrome compared to age of the mother. In 1990, it was like 1 in 83, for someone her age. We thought our chances were good............and they were. Kids are fine. One is gifted, the other above average.
