Anybody have a cast on arm before?

Recently fell and fractured my wrist, got put in a splint, and i stopped using it, because it started feeling better. Well yesterday I went to see the orthepedic, and he told me the break has gotten worse and put me in a hard cast. This is the first step before surgery. This thing is bothering the ever living crap out of me and driving me crazy!

Why would you take it off? That's pretty dumb!

Mainly because pf my job, and the limitations it put on me, and it was feeling alot better. So idk...

gonna itch like a mofo when the skin starts drying out and it will start to smell like a diaper bucket when it get wet and starts to dry out. You should have just left the splint on. I broke both my hands during football at various time so I spent a lot of times in a cast, but maybe they have made advancements in the 16 years since I last had to wear one.

This right here is probably the main problem. Just because it feels better doesn't mean it's healed yet. A big reason why a cast is put on is precisely because the docs know you can't take it off.

Back in high school, I broke my wrist, got a waterproof cast, and swam competitively with the cast on for most of the swim season. It ain't that bad. Quit being a baby.

Yes
Was there another question?
FYI - if it itches just use a coat hanger

I broke my collarbone when I was 13. I had to wear a sling and a apparatus that pulled my shoulders back so that the bones would heal back in alignment. After about three weeks the pain was gone so I decided to shoot some basketballs when I got home from school. After the first shot, I knew that I made a grave mistake. What I was supposed to wear for 4 weeks turned into having to wear it for another 4 weeks.

Broke my wrist the week before the first game my senior year in high school. Cost me a division 1 scholarship.

I put on probably 15-20 a week for about 5.5 yrs when I worked in ortho. Quit being a bitch and wear the cast. You want a functioning wrist? Or do you want one that sort of functions without full ROM?
It's there for a reason. The best advice I can give you is do what the protocol calls for now what you think it is. You can read an X-ray and don't have the training. Follow the rules that are simply laid out for you.
That being said... If whomever applied the cast doesn't know what he/she is doing then it could be more bothersome than need be. But in the the end. It's a cast, it's not supposed to be comfortable. It's supposed to be for support. Remember, if you would've followed directions from the beginning you wouldn't be wearing it. Now you just made the surgeons job that much more difficult in surgery.

broke my radial head right up the middle. Had a cast up to my upper arm keeping my arm at a 90 degree angle. It also covered a portion of my hand to immobilize my thumb to prevent me from twisting my wrist. Senior year in high school and I missed over half of the basketball season.
It sucked so bad.
It sucked so bad.

Your engrish sucks. But it's okay because you're a bigshot doctor.

Go suck a dick.
I was taking a shite while typing.
It's not about being a big shot. You are the same person that comes in for treatment and complains about how your wrist doesn't function right when you don't follow rules an 8 yr old could follow. What would you do and or say if I go to your place of business for advice, pay for said advice then do not use it in the way you stated it be used. But... I will come complain to you about your advice being shite and demand that you change what you know what works and is industry standard. Does that sound reasonable?

I had 2 surgeries on my wrist and ended up in a cast for a year and a half. If the doctor tells you to wear a cast and don't use your wrist, you're just going to have to learn how to brush your teeth and wipe your arse with the opposite hand.

I don't suddenly become dang near illiterate when defecating. And your whiny paragraph and poor example are scarcely any better. Are you STILL in there? If so, you should go see a doctor.
