Any vets up? Dog just had a seizure

Got her to lay down. Seems to be doing ok. Planning on taking her into vet in morning. Could still use any advice from vets or anybody who has dealt with similar experience.

Not what you want to hear but one of my dogs passed from a seizure last year. I couldn't get her to stop seizing. I will never forget the sound she was making and watching her last breath.

Yeah. This was really scary. She is Super active and has never had a serious health issue. Heard her start thrashing around and grabbed her up, she was biting at the air and her eyes were crooked. Lasted about 2 minutes. She couldn't stand up on the slippery hard woods and was whining. Finally got her up, she went outside and used the bathroom and now shes laying by the bed. Seems to be ok. She just had a dental cleaning with anesthesia a week ago so I'm thinking that might be the trigger. We have a great vet so Im sure he can help us get her diagnosed and treated tomorrow, just want to make sure Ido anything I can for her tonight.

Thank you. We put a call into our vet. Will take her in in the morning and get a diagnosis and treatment plan. Really appreciate everyone's advice. She's seems to be fine now

Thanks. I thought she was going. Breathing was labored towards the end of the seizure and then she just came back to life. I Know she's a dog but it was one of the scarier scenes I ever witnessed.

I have 2 labs and they're both 11, I know they won't live forever but if they weren't gray haired you'd think they were still 3 or 4 years old by the way they act. This was totally out of the blue. Never had any issues with her.

My 8 year old Havanese started having violent seizures when she was around 4 - they lasted at least 2 to 3 minutes followed by a bowel movement and sometimes vomiting, this would occur at least 2 or 3 times a month. My vet ran various test over a two week period and put her on Phenobarbital 60MG/ML 0.05ml twice daily. It took about 6 months for it to finally kick in. She has maybe 3 or 4 light seizures a year now. The downside to this is liver function, your dog is 11 - I am sure they will have to monitor her along with the residue from the Phenobarb with quartley blood test. Good luck.

Sorry you had to see your pup go through that. Those two minutes probably lasted forever. She will be out of it for a few hours once it's over, but she should be fine. If she were to have another seizure that won't stop, bringing her in on emergency would be needed for medication. Your vet in the am should be able assist you from there and make a plan for you. You're doing the right thing by just keeping an eye out for now. It could very well be the only one she ever has, or it could be a seizure disorder which can be treated. (One of my rescues has a seizure disorder that we treat with meds.) My vet told me that even though there may be weird noises and some confusion afterwards, dogs don't feel pain during a seizure. Hope everything goes well.
