Definitely at least make a stop in Jackson Hole, WY. Right now is a great time to be there before the tourists start arriving for ski season. If you plan to stay awhile, it's also a good time to find a job for when ski season starts back up. One of my kids did this and ended up staying for three years and still goes back to visit all of her friends who are still there.

Sounds like a great time. I wish I could do the same.

frick you fr
I'm sure you are
A lyrical star
And a fly at a bar

You may believe
I was naive
You simply retrieve
A comeback to cleave

As for my mistake

The license poetic
The lyrics prophetic
All but pathetic
And merely cosmetic

Head west toward the Rockies. The leaves are just starting to change and it's beautiful up there. Go be a ski bum for the Winter. Be a lifty during the day and bartend at night. They would KILL for a bartender from New Orleans at any Ski Resort.

This!

But I thought you didn't want a plan? Whatever you go with, have fun and good luck.

I've taken solo trips before with little plans. This year I took one around the southeast(tennessee, north carolina, kentucky) and one to Asia. I took a tent on the southeast road trip but ended up staying in hostels, cheap hotels, and a bunk room at a whitewater rafting center.

If you are driving through decent sized cities, def look for a hostel. The ones in the US are pretty nice and will be 25-30 bucks a night, and there will be other travelers there if you feel like meeting some easy going people.

Having a general idea of where you want to go is a good idea. Do you want to see grand mountains, giant rock structures, drink good craft beer, experience some colder weather and do some outdoorsing? Head west. Do you want to see smaller, more green mountains, small quaint cities with hippies and fricking awesome bbq? Go to the appalachians.

Want to hang out in big cities? Go northeast. You could even do appalachians and the northeast. If there is one place you should avoid, it's the midwest (oklahoma, kansas, nebraska, iowa, dakotas unless you want to see rushmore or the black hills)

I also recommend taking some time to chill. Don't spend all your time on the go when you don't have any place to be. Just go far from home, and enjoy where you are

Yeah, if you have ever done anything shady in your past, don't admit it to anyone while you are on your journey.

Grow up dude. Get a real life, get a real job, get a real woman, and settle down for the long haul.

This line of thinking makes me sad, it's why so many people waste their lives doing meaningless shite. What's a "real life" and a "real job"?

Ski resort think sounds great. I know a few guys who work in Ak or Washington in the summer, and Vail in winter. Pick some spots on a map and visit. You'll know when you're "home."

As far as your impending trek goes, it may be good to clear your head, wish I could take that opportunity. All I'll suggest is leave the drama where it is, and press on forward. It will only put you back where you first started. You know, clean slate and all. Give a holla when you get back and let us know how things work out for you.

Safe travels, Baw.

My advice...

Find the place you want to live first, and a job second.

A hard worker can always find a job anywhere because he knows there's nothing wrong with a day of honest work, regardless of what it is.

But working in a place that you love... that's the thing that's hard to find.

Be picky. Try some places that are new and different from what you've experienced.

You have a wonderful opportunity here. Don't blow it by trying to fit job A into place B. Find the place, and the job will find you.
