Married to a teacher. It all depends on the admin for my wife.

First principle, hated her. Moved to a new school with a principle she loved and was as happy as can be. Principle left and new one sucked and she was miserable again.

The hated principle just left last week. For my sake, hope this new one works out.

Pay in Houston seems fair too. Especially if the wife sticks with it and we can collect that pension. We shall see.

actually if I had to pick a ‘one that got away’ out of all the women I’ve dated, it was the teacher

If you ever have aspirations of being the Mr. Mom type, by all means, go marry a teacher.

You’ve never dated or hooked up with hairdresser then. You would know the answer immediately.

The whining has NOTHING to do with her job. It's HER.

If she were a rich model, movie star, an athlete, a business mogul, she would whine. Dump her and find a happier person.

I paid out of pocket to decorate my office. Yeah I could have had white walls but I don't expect my damn company to pay for me to have a bunch of hand shaped turkeys on a string around the room. I don't get why they think they should be paid to decorate when they don't have to.

Being paid to decorate =/= paying for decorations

Look, kids learn better in a comforting, welcoming environment.

We should not want our schools to look like prisons.

My mom taught school and you woulda thought she was digging ditches while balancing the federal budget when the kids were at lunch and recess. She knows nothing of professional jobs and expectations.

Yeeeahh, i don't know if that would work out real well if he wants a monogamous relationship

Well said, it's pretty rare to hear a woman complain to a man that she hasn't been laid enough. That would be a serious red flag for me.

I’m married to one. Yes, they get lots more time off that we in the regular workforce get. But they also get paid a lot less. And they have to deal with spoiled, rotten, bad, disrespect kids all day. You won’t hear me saying their jobs aren’t difficult. The problem is you have people out there teaching who half arse the job and give the rest of the ones who spend hours at night on the phone with parents, $1,000s of dollars on items for their classroom the state won’t pay for, and ones who really care for our children, a bad name.

I’m talking to one currently. She’s a stereotypical teacher in that she constantly complains and whines about everything.

I'd bet my life savings and 401K that the OP (cbree88) could not handle teaching at a public high school for 1 month. Matter of fact, you'd probably quit in less than a week.

I too married an educator with a Master's degree, who teaches severe and profound special education students in a rural poverty-stricken Parish. She loves the kids and will step up for their needs. Sadly, most of the parents only care about getting their childs monthly "government check". These same parents often times forget to administer their kids medication which makes it harder for the teachers to control the kids. One kid stands in the corner and jumps all day. One is non-verbal who ambulates with a wheel chair and has a colostomy bag, and one is a "runner". As soon as the class-room door opens, this kid takes off like Usain Bolt and he constantly has to be monitored. My wife rarely complains as she understands the difficulties knowing SHE chose this profession. She will put in another 3 years and retire at 50.
