I'm coming this weekend to help my dad strip out his drywall. Are there any motels/hotels that are open that anyone is aware of?

I'm pretty sure the closest vacancy will be Hammond or New Orleans.
Maybe others here will know if the case is any different.
Oh and it's not because a lot of hotels flooded, it's because displaced homeowners are in them.

Try Holiday Inn downtown. Some friends of ours stayed there for a few days last week.

Didn't even think about this having a bearing on available rooms for football season. Damn, now all the out of towner "friends" are going to want to shack up at my place.

The Alamo Plaza Motel
The Elf Express
Magnuson Hotel Baton Rouge if you want to go upscale.
Best Hotels of Baton Rouge WHICH MIGHT have an opening

I was working Hurricane Opal in 1995 and staying in Auburn, AL. The hotel kicked our arse out and honored the football fans reservations.

If no vacancies closer, try the Best Western in St. Francisville, 15-20 min from I10. They also have the Magnuson and several bed and breakfasts. Good luck.
