Listen, I doubt the dude deserved to die. But what in the high frick makes him think throwing rocks at police officers was a good idea. I just have no sympathy for him. His family, sure. But not him. Sorry, not sorry.

I agree with this.

You don't throw shite at them and you don't run away. Plain and simple.

You watched a different video ? Not justifying it but he certainly didn't "put his hands UP".

In fairness to you and to the police, it's kind of hard to tell if he still has something in his hand at the end of the video such that he's about to chuck another rock or something.

I thought the same thing. Not a peep of a reaction.

I am willing to bet it will come out shortly that the victim was mentally handicapped.

The cops are lucky they are terrible shots. If the first round would have hit him, it would have been the cops shooting a guy in the back. The decision to fire those first rounds makes them look bad enough.

He turns to face them briefly, lifting his right arm as if to throw another object, when they open fire, according to the video.

Police should be allowed to defend themselves from assault.

We just need to eliminate the idea that it's acceptable for police to shoot to avoid all risk.

It's not. It's acceptable to avoid significant risk of severe bodily injury or death, but it's not reasonable to shoot a golden retriever to avoid being nipped, or kill a guy to avoid a small rock-induced contusion.

The assault was over, dude. Tackle him. And defending yourself doesn't mean you have to use lethal force to do so.

The shooting, while probably legally justified, was not that wise with that many bystanders around.

Of course. This case did not warrant Deadly force, though.

FIFY.

people, dogs, whatever. They get all tacticool then get the rush of needing to kill something, likely from the roids and small dicks.

That guy very well could have had mental health issues. There are other ways to handle these situations than lethal force.
