Yeah, I'm not a pit bull fan. But what do you do? Outlaw every dog that poses a threat? There'd be a lot of killed off breads. The best you can hope for is charging the owner with negligent homicide and sentencing them to the max allowable time.

They're are bred to kill. Once a Pitbull decides to attack it has no off switch. There are hundreds of other breeds, I just don't get why everyone wants a damn pitbull.

There is a pit bull lying at my sleeping daughter's feet at this moment.
That dog is the best dog we've ever had. She was a rescue, you could say. She was emaciated when we found her abandoned on a dead end road.
I think dogs remember the bad times. She whimpers when we take her collar off.
She is 75 lbs of muscle and as gentle as a dog could be.

Very sad to hear but these dogs get a bad rap period! I can definitely turn my American Bulldog into a monster if I wanted to. I could turn a Collie into a terror. Its all about how you raise a dog. Rotts and Dobermans got a bad rap in the 80 and 90's, but now they are all of a sudden a safe dog?

No doubt. I used to work as a cable auditor and I'd end up in podunk areas of Madison County. I was checking a ground tap and saw a pit bull run around a house across the road. I didn't hesitate and ran straight for the van, jumped in, and tried shutting the door. That fricker wedged in the door trying to get inside, and I slammed it on him and held it. It didn't phase him. So I started kicking him in the face. I had steel toe boots on so I was able to get enough kick on him without getting marred up. After the door was shut he was still jumping up trying to claw at the window. Dog straight up went crazy. It's doubtful I would have been able to get away without serious injuries if he had caught me off guard.
ETA: After that, I got my concealed carry permit. They will be shot if I ever face that situation again.
