While I personally would never own a pit, simply because Im not a fan of terriers...the vast majority of attacks reported as pitbull attacks are NOT pitbulls.
The majority of the dogs reported are well outside the weight range of an actual pit.
The only dog Ive ever been legitimately attacked by was a lab.
Also had two lab mixes we had to put down becaause they were violent...though we adopted them at eight weeks and raised them right.
I certainly dont go around screaming that labs are violent evil animals.
It isnt the breed, its the media attributing evey dog attack to a pitbull.
People also talk of banning my american bulldogs too, ad a more harmless pair of idiots the world has never seen.

I've met some that seemed like great dogs, but they're unpredictable. Genetics dictate actions in certain situations. Some things just set them off unexpectedly. It's not the fact they might bite, all dogs have that potential, it's the fact there's little most can do without outside assitance when they do attack.

Be honest, if in the same timespan three pit bulls had been shot for no reason by cops as these three kids had been killed by pits, you'd be in here talking about how cops are all worthless pieces of shite and something needs to be done to stop the cops from killing any more dogs. Don't lie.

It didn't take long.
I doubt I could foster a dog that was trained to fight to be as docile as ours. Unfortunately, there are a lot of nasty people out there breeding pit bulls, and training them to fight.

Most put bulls that attack kids have never been involved in any fighting. In fact in most of the pit stories I've read they are usually either the family pet or the neighbor pet that's just their dog. It's not being trained to fight that makes them attack. There is something in their nature that can make any if them go from a sweet family dog into an unstoppable killing machine at any time for any reason and without warning. Hell, like I just posted, one of the three children killed by pit bulls in just the last few days was posing for pictures with the dog that killed her just days later.
