Sadly, Louisiana is even worse.

quote:

3. Louisiana > Pct. 4th grade students below reading proficiency: 77% > Pct. not proficient – low-income: 85% (tied-the highest) > Pct. not proficient – eighth grade: 32% (tied-3rd highest)

I'm not an Alabamaian. I just live here for the money. I think of myself more as a mercenary than a resident.

You also live in an area that puts most of the country to shame as opposed the black belt. Speaking of which, the latter mentioned area wrecks the stats for the entire state in many measured statistical categories.

However, if you are going to enter a thread talking about stupid people, try to spell check your post. It is "Alabamian". I hope you engineer better than you type. ;-)

My girlfriend is from Anniston, and she is neither inbred or hillbilly. Also, one of LSU's best current NFL stars is from there.

Glad you found two fine examples to prove me wrong, I will not be able to sleep tonight.

Is your girl an albino like most of those inbreds ?

Wonder if this has something to do with a segment of Americans we like to ignore.

Saw that on reddit one time and laughed almost to tears. That said, I suspect a RA is incoming.

I always wondered the same thing, but I guess they just adapt. Sort of like how blind people adapt.

After teaching for a few years in Louisiana's public school, we are on the way to matching them even passing their illiteracy rate.

I'm not an Alabamian. I just went to school there. I can see it. I can see it in any state in the south that isn't Florida or Georgia though. I don't consider Virginia the south and North Carolina is pushing it. Both of them are pretty good with education though.
