I used free shipping twice last week... And watched 3 movies.

It will still be worth it to me.

What does Amazon Prime offer?

Free video streaming on Amazon Instant Video
Free 2 day shipping on Amazon prime products(which if you live near where they have distribution centers you basically get free overnight shipping)

Ex: We bought a 60 inch flatscreen on Amazon Prime. Paid wayyy less for it than elsewhere and it was shipped free to us(Amazon delivery truck pulled up to my door and brought tv inside for me).

You can share the free 2 day shipping with family.

My brother-in-law mooches this off of me.

Amazon May Raise Cost of Prime

I would still use Prime, even if Amazon raised its price that it charges for it.

Just received dog food on Saturday, 3 Blu Ray movies on Wednesday and Faucet Socks (2 days late) today.

One tip / trick. Anytime you receive a package late, let Amazon know. They will extend their Prime service to you by 1 month. I recently had several packages arrive late around Christmas time and had my Prime services extended by 4 months.

I could be out if this comes true. I make hay on $79/year, but I don't know about $100+

I don't use Amazon Video so I'd gladly give that up. Also, I don't buy a ton of stuff via Amazon so a price hike makes it less of a bargain. Although, if they hiked the price I will probably pay it and buy more stuff via Amazon to make it worth it. Which is what they want. Dammit.

You really need to change your mindset. I buy a lot of stuff on Amazon, a lot of things you wouldn't even think of. I also use the Amazon Chase card. 3x reward points on internet shopping, boom.

Dude, I buy paper towels on Amazon. Why not? Just less clutter in my grocery cart.

I like one guy's idea in the comments. Raise the price, but split the services. I literally have never used Prime for the streaming. $60/yr for free 2day shipping, $60/yr for streaming, or $110/yr for both. Seems fair to me.

You're right. I never think of Amazon for ordinary stuff, just the fun stuff. I did buy razors once. But I have a Chase Amazon card as well so yeah I might as well buy everything I can via Amazon. 3x points for Amazon, 2x points for restaurants, it adds up nicely. OK, mindset changed!

I know the feeling. I literally order everything with my Prime membership. Fishing stuff, home improvement things, clothes, even paper towels. It's cheaper than going to the store and gets dropped off at my door two days later. Still would be worth it at $120 for me. Also have the Amazon credit card to get points back from everything I order.
The customer service is the best around also

If you don't use the instant movies/shows while board at work, you are missing out

I use it for shipping so much that it's worth it.

I like knowing that I can offer my customers 2-3 day return on parts when all the local places say 7-10 days..
Amazon has everything, and I mean everything too.

Last week I got a Dishwasher motor, dryer element, fridge compressor, volkswagen Jetta Lower control arm and a throw out bearing, a pot rack, and a phone battery.

Everything 1 or 2 day shipped.

The shipping is great but they have greatly cut that in the last year. There are many items that now require further purchases in order to get free shipping.. Amazon instant streaming is absolute and complete shite compared to Netflix. If it were a replacement to netflix I wouldnt mind the cost increase as I could just drop nextflix. But 40 a year and I probably will not renew. 10 dollars a month to have free shipping means to me that I have to buy 2 items a month in order to pretty much break even on the "free" shipping.
