i went to the LSU/Bama game in '04 despite us being told the day before by her doctor that she was "ready" and could go into labor any moment now.
son wasn't born until the tuesday, but I still get reminded of that on a semi-regular basis.
she typically backs down when i respond "but it was the Alabama game."
i still need admitted to her I would have done the same thing even if we was playing Bumfrick Tech.

Had it been me, I'D have likely been at the game myself. Seriously. The only game I've ever left early was Miss State 2000 when I was 5-6 months pregnant and had to go to the ER ... it was all good but I didn't miss a game.

My Father wasn't there for the birth of #4 child. He had an important trial in Shreveport. My mother always gave him shite about it and his response was: "It is more important for the Captain to be there for the laying of the keel than the launching of the ship." She never gave him shite about it again.
