Rookies.

Next time just act super excited about it. Do not hint at not going. Then last minute work situation comes up. Have wrapped gift bought and ready.

You stay home she can go screw a couple groomsmen. Everyone hides the truth and smiles.

Unfortunately I think you have to go. But make a big deal about it, act like a martyr and make sure she does a lot of extra stuff in the bedroom to make up for the inconvenience...

This is the type of shite she will throw on your face down the road.

She wants you there, so you should go if you want this girl. You are there to be her puppet and show off to her friends and shite.

If she isn't worth it, stay home.

You are in the right, Bride is dumb for not having wedding on Saturday or Sunday like normal people with a reception that follows. I have heard of next day send off parties but never the reception the day after the wedding.

You'd probably earn a get out of jail free card from her if you said you weren't going and then showed up. Kind of like Rock Hudson did with Elizabeth Taylor in GIANT (1956).

Weddings should be a one day deal. You got me for a few hours if the hooch is good. If not....less than a few hours. The next day? No way!

Her wedding is on a Friday, she is having the reception with family and friends on the Saturday afternoon the next day.

Sounds like a mega pain in the arse. This better not be the new trend.

Perfectly reasonable. You don't schedule a Friday wedding for this reason. The only people you should ask to take off a day for you are very dear friends and close family. You don't ask a rando to do this.

Who has a wedding reception the day after the bride gets railed hardcore all night long?

She'll be limping into that reception bowlegged.

I see both sides.

your side: frick the vacation day, i wouldnt want to drive that far for a wedding of someone i do not know. But really dude, if you are going to drive that far, you might as well go an extra day. You gonna drive just for the reception then drive up the next day? screw that. Just make the best of it.

her side: its irrelevant that you dont know them, its her best friend so its important to her, and you are her man. If the relationship is advanced, then you should be there by her side.

You're actually being normal and reasonable but I find that she probably wants you at the wedding for herself and not so much for who's getting married, which is also normal.

That has a better chance of happening if they had the reception the next day.

You aren't being an a-hole. That being said, what is one vacation day worth to you?
