My wife knows the chances of me going to a wedding that is 7 hours away that isn't a close friend or family member are close to 0.

She wants you there for the wedding so she can show you off, period. She also wants you there to show that you are a good guy. You not showing up for the wedding doesn't let her show you off and furthermore shows her and her friends that you DGAF about what she wants.
