This thread didn't exactly turn out the way you thought it would, now did it?

You are dumb. That wasn't the op you were responding to and you clearly didn't read or understand his post.

How do you know this? Has she had productivity issues in the past?

To those of you instantly wanting to create an adversarial employee-supervisor atmosphere - beware in unintended consequences.

Not only are you lowering the perceived corporate culture and possibly setting the company up for increased turnover (costly in my industry), but you truly never know what will happen in the upcoming years.

I've seen a boss treat an employee like utter shite. This employee was at the very bottom. The employee left and a year later his brother was hired as the boss's boss. Karma was a bitch.

OP did nothing wrong. Couple of thoughts though

1. EE isn't the right fit for your goals. Eliminate per protocol as necessary.

2. HR and IT are the absolute 2 friends managers should be close to. Do anything and everything to befriend, no matter your opinion of them individually.

I hope you aren't responding to me with that.

This isn't my thread. I was responding to the OP.

IF you have real work for her to do, walk out, get her attention, hand it to her, ask her to get started.

She prolly would have told her BF "gotta get to work!" She'd have been on a high and probably been very productive. Now she's gonna spend all day hating you. And so will everyone else she talks to in the break room.

So I point-blank ask her, "do you need some work to do? All you have done is talk all morning."

If you have something for her to do, give it to her. If you don't, then let her chat away.

If you *know* she has work to do and is wasting time, then give her more work.

I may go to HR to ask why a passive aggressive menstruating woman was promoted ahead of me after that exchange.
