Does anyone know why the giving rate for LSU Alumni is so low.
LSU worst in SEC alumni donations

quote:

LSU's average alumni giving rate is 10.8 percent, the often-cited rankings system reports. Whereas the rate of former students who give back to University of Alabama, which ranks first in the SEC for alumni giving, is 36 percent.

And for SUBR it is even worse at 2.8%

I gave tens of thousands in tuition

I don't feel bad about the administrative bloat that wastes so much money

I have so many people asking for money. Both my university and my high school regularly calls or mails me solicitations for donations. This started when I was 18 and fresh out of high school. It just put a bad taste in my mouth. Like no I don't have money to give to you.

A lot of Louisiana college grads only stayed in state due to Tops then fled to Houston or something as soon as they had a degree in hand. Seems like that would make it where many don't care about giving back.

I was going to make a funny comment but then I saw Tennessee was dead last behind LSU so I decided against it

I finished at 3 different schools. 1 calls quarterly, 1 calls twice a year, LSU never calls, mails or emails.

How much money could it possibly cost to throw some easy courses online for the football team?

I give to my graduate school (not LSU) but not undergrad (LSU) because LSU has been extremely anti-Greek life in the past decade so I'm not going to reward that type of administration with my hard earned dollars.

If I gave back I'd rather give money directly to a fund that was for a specific project or department than to write a check to the alumni association or whatever the frick. Honestly, LSU didn't do a whole lot to help me out or prepare me for life after graduation. They made me take a bunch of dumb fricking classes that I otherwise wouldn't have taken.

LSU alumni likely give more money to LSU athletics rather than the university.

The last thing I plan on doing once I make some decent money is donating to one of the most poorly-managed financial operations in this state.

I admittedly harbor a significant amount of distrust for them not just as a former student, but also from my experience as a University employee. Alma mater or not, I'm not willing to fork over any hard-earned money to an institution that forces their employees to pay for parking passes regardless of whether or not they park within the closed portion of campus. That's chicken shite when you have full-time workers who are not salaried and receive no benefits.

As long as the current administrators are in charge, LSU won't receive a single penny from me (apart from the thousands of dollars that my family and I have begrudgingly spent on books, tuition, and bullshite fees).

Personally, I'm not a big fan of charitable donations directed towards government entities.

Lol you realize a lot of employers don't cover parking?

Thank You. That actually makes sense. Many of the people I knew back at Tech moved to Texas or other large states after graduation.

Also, back in high school I remember many people saying that LA has a terrible retention rate for good talent in education and other civil job sectors.

10% of tRant actually attended LSU, 17% did a semester at BRCC or Southeastern before they figured out that college algebra was to much and the rest work at gas stations or feed stores in cities like Abbeville, Ferriday, Iowa and Jena.

They pay for parking if they bike or take public transportation?

Yes it sucks to pay for parking, but this happens in plenty of places where parking is at a premium.
