My wife says she likes the installed ones, but they aren't what we ordered. Not close, really.

Should I have him redo it in the correct shingle? Is it wrong to accept his mistake and ask to be compensated (Since my wife seems to be okay with the current ones)?

they usually put that in writing...did he not do that?...

fwiw, if your wife is ok with the ones that are installed, I would personally call it good and move on...no point in stressing yourself out when you don't have to.

Is the price of the wrong shingles the same as the ones you ordered?

How are the wrong?

Color?

Warranty (Years?)

Style? (3-tab, architectural)

Clearly the only reasonable solution to this problem.

Seriously though, you said your wife is happy. Isn't that all you need? Leave them up and get some head.

Eta: If there is a price difference, definitely seek a refund. That's if you leave them up bc the wife.

Just the color is wrong. Same lifetime warranty architectural shingle.

If your wife likes them, I wouldn't bother. I tend to be very chill about stuff like this though, and avoid confrontation

Same shingle. Same warranty. Just a color difference from charcoal to "weathered wood".

Well if it looks decent and your wife's happy then just roll with it. How often do you really stare at the roof anyway?

Let it go. Your wife probably has the better eye for color anyway. Weathered Wood is a great blend that somehow manages to go with a very wide variety of paint colors.

Well, if it's just aesthetic and the wife is onboard, I'd lean toward not dealing with the hassle. Contractor should count his lucky stars that your wife like them

Ask for a partial refund (10% or so of whole cost, higher if just a refund on shingles??) seems like something an amateur would have done. Maybe the guy had that color lying around from another job and needed to get rid of them.

Tell the roofer you want the color shingles you selected unless he has an alternate solution and see what he says

Very true.

I just checked pricing and the weathered wood is just ever so slightly more expensive from the supplier (To the public, anyway). So I guess I'm not losing out on anything, and the wife stays happy.

I would, at least, inform him of it so he doesn't make the same mistake again.

I'd tell that roofer he made a GAF.
