Yes and it fricking sucks.

BIL and sister in law love to overspend and try to impress every year and my wife feels bad that we don't match them. I refuse to go full retard and spend money on credit like them to buy these big grandiose gifts for everyone.

frick that. If you have a kid, I'll buy a gift for your kid.

We stopped getting siblings and spouses gifts a few years ago. We still get gifts for our parents and all the nieces and nephews.

It got to the point where we were basically just exchanging $50-75 worth of gifts/gift cards so we finally just said let's take a little stress off everyone and just enjoy the family time and the kids getting gifts.

Well, the exchanging $50 thing applies to all except my husband's shitty sister.

She literally went to Walgreen's on Christmas Eve and got a bunch of bullshite for everyone the last year we exchanged gifts. Call me a bitch, but don't buy me a fricking PedEgg for Christmas.

Just because your sect of Christianity chooses to do adult baptisms doesn't make infant baptism an exclusive Catholic practice.

Man some of you Grinchy motherfrickers just hate giving don't you?

I love giving gifts. It makes me feel good inside. And I don't care about getting.

But you scrooges are just insufferable. Can't even be bothered to get a damn gift without throwing a fit?

Yeah my wife's family still does this ... We spend WAY WAY WAY too much on that shite ..

Eta: I'm not talking about siblings or parents - that is a given that yiu should give to them ..

I'm talking about aunts and uncles and cousins .. My wife has 7 aunts and uncles 33 first cousins plus Amit of her cousins have young kids ... And we buy for each of them

I don't care if a child is brought up Morman, Jewish, or even worse, Presbyterian, God Parents are just a good idea.

Does the OT disapprove of me buying my parents presents?

Because I just ordered them the first nice christmas presents I've ever gotten them in my life. Need to know if I fricked up. TIA.

Well, this Christmas season, I'm dirt poor. Like really, dirt poor. Like super poor. So I'm just going to be really helpful. And sneak my name into someone else's gifts. Missing the week of thanksgiving for work sucked. And I refuse to go into savings for anything.

I did get one of my parents a ticket to Star Wars though!

I enjoy giving gifts to my loved ones that live in B.R., which includes my parents, my siblings that are in town, and my closest friends. They do the same for me. It is not a chore. It is fun.

The adult siblings decided not to exchange gifts this year for the first time.

My parents tried to implement that a few years back. They wanted us all to give that money to charity instead. I told them I get nothing out of giving to charity but do enjoy giving people I actually know gifts, so I will be giving them gifts regardless of what they do. They reciprocated but told me not to tell my brothers. The charity thing was one and done. Back to giving gifts to each other like a normal family.

Parents to children exchanges, yes. We draw names for siblings and in-laws.
