What state? I'm pretty sure in Louisiana you have to pay to play, they can't get anything without insurance.

You are still out the deductible. You should always have rental car coverage on your policy. I have $50 a day coverage, costs me $8 a month. Great piece of mind knowing that if I get in a wreck and my truck is getting worked on, I don't have to pay for the rental for the two weeks repairs take.

I do have rental coverage. It expired after 30 days. That's another story.

Yeah everyone should make sure they have rental car coverage. I thought I had gotten it on my jeep .....found out after being hit....i actually didn't. Made the whole process take forever cause I had to wait on the other insurance to pay my claim(I wasn't at fault). Lesson learned....added rental coverage as soon as I realized I didn't have it.

The one good thing is they do seem to pay attention while driving because they know if they hit someone Sheriff Joe will send their arse back to Mexico

ETA: I have an illegal doing work in my house right now as I type this, he just got finished with his night job at the tortilla factory!

If you are at fault in an accident you'll be coming out of pocket for way more than $100 if you have minimum coverage. That's 25k property and you know what vehicles costs these days.

Unless you have no assets to go after

About 10 years ago, I was rear ended by someone without insurance. I called my insurance agent and found that there is 2 types of insurance for the uninsured. Luckily, I had the right one and it fixed my damage. The other wouldn't have.

If you live in Florida make sure you have as much Uninsured/Underinsured (UM/UIM) coverage as you can afford because there is no requirement that drivers here carry liability coverage. :psa

Because a lot of poors aren't that bright. They saw an attorney commercial during Bold and the Beautiful and thought they won the lottery.

It seems cheaper to not have car insurance in Louisiana. I think i might do that

I was at fault in an accident with an uninsured driver and had to go to mediation because the driver wanted $100K over my insurance limit. It is ridiculous that this is possible. It was in Louisiana, in 2009. I hope things have changed. I had to pay.

My wife was rear ended by someone with no insurance earlier this year. They impounded his car. The little thug was furious and couldn't understand why the trooper was doing it.
I would love to know the percentage of uninsured motorist in BR. Seems like every time I hear of someone involved in a car accident, the person at fault doesn't have insurance.
