There is this great movie about this guy at the horse track called let it ride, awesome funny movie. Thjis guy gets a tip about a horse that is going to win and he makes a wager on it and wins and parlys that and wins, etc. he makes one wager by picking the horse no one else liked, etc it's really funny.

anyway he's married and his wife is about to leave him because of his gambling. he's on a fricking roll and has parleyed like 200 dollars into like 10 thousand and his wife calls the track and he's there and she comes down there and he's like

"see, i realize what the problem is in our relationship. you don't have a problem with me gambling. You have a problem with me LOSING. And now i'm a winner and everyone likes me"


and that's the same about drug addiction. The truth is the line between recreational use and abuse / addiction is drawn at where you can afford to spend. Think about it, if bill gates decided to throw a 10k dope party with strippers and blow everyday for the rest of his life, no noe would call him a drug addict, just a guy who knows how to fricking party because he can afford to do so.

Drugs only become a problem when you can't afford them. People only steal when they can't buy them. I've been in relationships with dope heads, and they all left in pursuit of easier access to drugs, because i've never ever been about the "drug life" after a day or so it's time to do something else.

Is the guy who lives on food stamps supporting his family but spends 60 dollars they really don't have to buy dope, really more of a dope head than the guy who makes 5k a week and blows $500 a week on pills, but can still pay his bills and support his life style? Yeah, he really is.

Yes, he's an addict, too, but he's not blaming the pharmacist because he forgot to print out his own coupon.

And many, many well off drug addicts will eventually end up in the same spot.

That number has gone up. This past September Physicians that have a unique DEA # can now apply to have 275 patients instead of the standard 100 that has been the law for years. The goal should always be to prescribe the lowest dose that does the trick at the first consult. The idea , with good DRs is ALWAYS to get them to a point of that they taper completely off for good. The drug saves lives and families. Methadone does NOTHING for an addict

I think he's a doctor that thinks pharmacist should probably fill prescriptions without the moral bravado.

So many things about this rant disturbs me. You obviously have never dealt with this sucky problem. "Its not how any of this works" comes to mind. The sadness of this situation should concern you.
