If they came over here it would be open season on any invading force. USA is the most heavily armed civilian population on the planet.

if our military was involved, we wouldnt need the help of the civilians.

I laughed. Thanks. I needed that.

The American population is basically the worlds largest insurgency. There's guns everywhere. It would frick any military in the world up. Look at Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan and other smaller deployments for example in how the American military could never achieve complete and total victory. Short of themselves being nuked, it can beat any military on this earth.

I could probably hold off ISIS for a month by myself.

I agree. The US civilians can and would put up more resistance than probably any other country's civilians. My post was not at all serious btw. I do like the pardigm shift view of history and technology. Right now, the answer to the OP is absolutely not. The future is unfathomable

The reason the American military didn't achieve complete and total victory in Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan was because we wouldn't harm innocents, not because we couldn't.

662 overseas bases in 38 foreign countries. I'm sure our military has the ability to intercept and neutralize almost any movement of supplies/infantry that would be required for a mainland assault on the United States.

In 2012, the United States spent $682 billion on defense, which is more than China, Russia, the United Kingdom, Japan, France, Saudi Arabia, India, Germany, Italy and Brazil COMBINED. When it comes to military, our motto is "OVERKILL".

We have so many resources. The only plausible way is probably find some way to disable communications. I don't even know if that's possible.

ETA: Don't get me wrong. I know every empire ends sometime, but there would need to be a dramatic change.

In reference to ole boys quote it was yomomato from japan. I really believe though a more out rising out of our general population would speak volumes about our country.

If the US military had no rules set. Martial law on the world. We wouldn't have had a 10 month war much less 10 years.

It is harder now. This is the reason the Internet exists. It is a little known fact that its development was funded by the US DoD.

Yeah, the civilian world got the internet only after it was decommissioned by the freaking U.S. military. Insane.

Also, using arbitrary numbers, 500,000 soldiers with tanks, aircraft, drones, ect still loses to an armed populace of 100 million guerrilla fighters.

The old saying "don't bring a knife to a gunfight" doesn't really apply when you have a six shooter revolver taking on 200 people with knives. In that case, the knives win.

The thing is, there absolutely will be a dramatic change. The impossible will become possible. Who figures it out first?

If by "little known" you mean "everyone who has any inkling about the internet?"

i think youre giving americans too much credit. i would say the average amercican would bitch out if another nations soldiers were here firing on them.

the thing that saves us is the logistics of getting another army on our soil

Replace six shooter with minigun with 30,000 rounds
