A friend of mine is getting disowned by some family members for divorcing wife that

turned into a land whale after marriage.
She was thin when he married her.
After having 2 kids she literally put on 100lbs.
I jokingly told him "maybe she has a thyroid problem".
He replied "no, she has a eating an entire box of Ho Hos in one sitting problem".
He told her for years to lose the weight.
After approximately 10 years of marriage he filed for divorce.
He told me that while he was trying to get her to lose weight that her family would berate him for "fat shaming" her.
After filing for divorce he said that he has some family that disowned him because "for better or worse" blah blah.
He told me that it is costing him a fortune in child support etc., but that he would rather live in a studio apartment and eat peanut butter for the rest of his life than to wake up and have to look at her for the rest of his life.
I told him I don't blame him, that it would be different if she was fat when he married her.
If he quit his job 5 years into the marriage and refused to ever work again I doubt she would stick around.
The way I see it she pulled the ole bait & switch and he followed through on his drop the weight or I'm leaving promise.
Good for him.
More guys out there should have the balls to do the same.

It's shitty to leave your wife over looks, but it's also shitty to not take care of yourself.
Couples owe it to one another to give each other 100%. It doesn't sound like they were willing to do that.

I'm torn here. He left his kids because she's overweight. Kids are worth hanging around until they're 18 at the least.

I can’t imagine leaving my wife for this. She’s more worried about health than I am so it wouldn’t happen. But I’d just keep working on her to get healthy the rest of our lives.

Oof I mean it's a tough subject, but maybe approach it from a health perspective because it is stupid unhealthy to be a hundred pounds over weight.
