I was in the 6th grade and we had a weekly spanish class and our principal came on the intercom and we went out by the gym and said a prayer and back to school. They called off school around noon then I went home and was glued to the tv for the rest of the day.
Same grade , but we stayed the whole day. At first, for me, it was more of . Then when I got home and saw it . Watched all news the rest of the day as well.
Glad my aunt who worked in Manhattan got out ok during 9/11, that was my concern that day too

Befor 9/11 i knew nothing of patriotism or how blessed we are to live in America. I had just started my second year of college. I remember watching and as the day went on, i remember feeling something i had never felt before. It was unexplainable. I knew at that moment, at that moment in history, that this was something big. Something that was going to change the world. I knew that my generation was going to be called on, just like the generation of men who were called right after Pearl Harbor. I immediatley withdrew from school and enlisted in the US Army. The single greatest thing ive ever done in my life.

Was kind of the same. Only time it really came out was usa sports and hacksaw jim Duggan . I never thought of the military as an option before 9/11 as it scared the hell out of me. I was a senior in hs and by time 2nd semester of freshman year I decided to join after semester was over and was full on merica.
9/11 was also last night I can remember having a full blown out nightmare. Had some bad dreams since then like everyone but I remember that night having nightmare od bombings a around me...I was a scaredy boy

I was in second grade and I remember our teacher told us everything he knew about terrorism and the conflicts in the middle east. Heavy stuff for 7-8 year olds but things changed that day and we all grew up a little bit after experiencing that.

Everybody grew up that day. I don't care if you were one day old or a 100 years old. That day changed America and the world.

Was at work listening to the Howard Stern show and it was just a normal day laughing about him getting his balls busted for not hooking up with Pamela Anderson when the first plane hit and just remembering that everything would change. They stayed on the air and were actually giving better information than most of the news channels in real time from listeners/callers who were within blocks of the WTC...
In case anyone cares to listen...

Great speech, short, sweet and to the point.
GWB has some prepared speech, trying to use the megaphone, and a guy screams "we can't hear you", and he responds with the above quote, to which they respond with thunderous approval!

Freshman year at UGA. I was on the bus coming back from my 8:00am class, statistics exam. Woke up all my hallmates. We all watched it in the lobby for hours.
We had football practice that afternoon despite classes being canceled. Was going to be the first game I would dress against Houston....game would be canceled the next day.

I had just finished feeding my 7 month old daughter and was rocking her while the older 2 were at school.
I cried and cried and cried. And wondered what the HELL we had brought children into this horrible world for.
I had no one involved and it hits me hard EVERY year ... will it always be like that??

I had graduated from Georgia that August and moved to Jackson, Wy in the beginning of September. We had gone out that night September 10th and the morning of September 11th my mom called me and woke me up when the first tower was hit. That was about 6:45 A.M. Mountain Time.
Through my hungover drunken haze, my and my roommates turned on the radio as the cable had not yet been installed in our place. We strained to hear the NPR station that has hard to pick up in the mountains. When the man started screaming that the second tower had been hit, we all knew that our nation was under attack. At that time with no tv, we could only use our imagination.
I had to go into work about 10 that morning at The Cadillac Grille. As I walked through the square in the middle of town, I didn't see a soul when what was usually a very busy time out there. When I walked into work I saw that all the people that were usually out and about were crammed well over fire code into the restaurant and the only sound you could here were the two tv's. Very, very eerie.
Watching the videos that day almost made me relive the experience twice because my imagination that I used before couldn't comprehend the images I was now seeing. This stuff only happens in movies. Not in real life.
I know "Never Forget" becomes almost cliche, but I can assure you this American will remember always.

Reading stories like this still give me chills bc I remember that day going to work after class and watching the story unfold. Can't believe it was 13 years ago.

I have every intention of showing the 9/11 2-part series to my kids when they are old enough to comprehend. Thats something that shows from day 1 of planning all the way through the entire week. Disappointed with all the shows on today, that is not one of them. I will NEVER forget either.

I saw it on TV,m jumped in the car and went and picked my roommates up for class.
I didn't actually watch the news yet.
I just saw the Fox News tagline "America under Attack"
and the tower collapsing.
I thought a war was about to break out.
Then just watched the news for the next three days straight.
