Beyond financial goals, Lambdin said the relief is also allowing him the freedom to pursue some of his long-term dreams, including taking a sabbatical to study with his meditation teacher in India.

Well.. you weren’t paying them anyway so what was stopping you from going to India in the first place

If he was on PSLF, then he was paying something.

Unless he was teaching in a school setting, he wasn’t on PSLF

The article doesn’t mention what he actually did for work as far as I can tell so my guess is “struggling freelance performer”.

At least the comments in the article were reassuring. I didn’t read a single one that thought this was a good idea.

Psfl required 120 payments over 10 years at a qualified nonprofit or government agency. Sounds like he got some one time adjustment thing.

Lots of hardworking baws will be roofing and building roads this summer to pay for his freebies.

The article specifically mentions he was on PSLF

He could be employed by a non-profit musical organization and still get PSLF

Yeah sounds like they’re basically applying the new IBR plans retroactively and forgiving loans with 25 years of qualifying payments.

In fairness, he’s probably made some progress, but the article says he basically put them in forbearance every opportunity he could so the interest accelerated upwards.

Do they have a time machine? This law is like 16-17 years old.

This guy is going to end up on further government assistance in the future.

Some people are just naturally motivated to succeed and build wealth and some are not.

That means you can’t disagree with it?

Very few agree with saddling tax payers with an individual’s poor decisions. $250k to become a musician is, was, and always will be a stupid decision.
