As it would for anyone who has toyed around with programming and had to beat code into submission

Q: What's the difference between yogurt and the State of Alabama?

A: Only one has an active culture.

Harvard sociologists decided to conduct an experiment to see if there really was a communication gap between groups of technical professionals. So they posed the same question to a mathematician, a physicist, and an engineer.

"A man and woman are standing 20 feet apart initially. Every 10 seconds, they walk towards each other until the distance between them is divided in half, then stop. When will the two meet?"

The mathematician quickly says "the two will never touch."

The physicist smirks and says "hah, that's non-sense, they will touch after an infinite amount of time."

The engineer looks at them both, shrugs, and replies "I'm really not too sure, but in about a minute they'll be close enough for all practical purposes."

One of the big themes in Sartre's philosophy is the idea of genuine choice versus just the appearance of having a choice. So he can't meaningfully choose to have his coffee with no cream, because he could never have had it with cream to begin with, but he can meaningfully choose to have it with no milk.

they have no cream, so his choice of having no cream didn't matter. if he wanted cream, he still would've gotten coffee with no cream. the choice literally ceases to exist.

they have milk, so his choice of no milk would be meaningful because he was able to choose between 2 or more options.

re: 21 Jokes Only Nerds Will Understand

they left off part of #12 when they copied it from reddit 3 logicians walk into a bar. The bartender asks "Do all of you want a drink?" The first logician says "I don't know." The second logician says "I don't know." The third logician says "Yes!"

Did they edit the website? Because all that shows up for me.

I only didn't get the engineering one.

The only joke I can think of to add to the list is the one where a chemical, mechanical and computer engineer were in a car that broke down. The chemical engineer says there must be a problem with the gas, so they should remove the existing gas and add new gas. The mechanical engineer says there is a problem with the engine so they should take it apart and put it back together. The computer engineer says they should all get out of the car, then get back in and attempt to restart the car.

Or something like that.

A topologist can't tell the difference between a cup of coffee and a donut.

What's the difference between an extroverted nerd and an introverted nerd?
The extrovert look looks at your shoes when he's talking to you.

Being a professional nerd, I like the list.
