2015 YTD Sales in the U.S.

Subaru 323k vehicles
Mitsubishi 57k vehicles

Gosh, those automobile writers really poisoned the well.

You really aren't very smart are you?

The reason an automotive manufacturer has to offer more warranty than the market is not because their vehicle is better-built. It is an artificial attempt to stimulate sales, in Mitsubishi's case* because nothing else will work. Their price points are already well lower than Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Subaru.

*Mitsubishi Motors has been here domestically around thirty years. If they were new to the market, as the Korean offerings recently were, ginning up sales using financing gigs, longer warranties and low pricing is a normal way to make market share in a mature auto market. Mitsubishi has had time to make its own way in the U.S. market and is still groping along at slow speed. Why? Boring cars, no idea what Americans want, bad resale value, poor dealer network, etc..

Suzuki cars is a cautionary tale to Mitsubishi here.

But you are right, I'm wrong. 57k so far this year. Pathetic.

Isn't Mitsu ending US production on all vehicles soon, or is it just the Lancer? I know something is ending for them.

If I'm looking at crossovers Subaru and the new Ford Edge would be tops on my list.

Have you driven a Peugeot or a Renault lately? I have. They have to. A mediocre Japanese entry is a 4.75 out of 5 stars compared to a Megane.

The overwhelming majority of European cars are disposable pieces of shite and are treated and driven as such. I always laugh when I hear a car salesman or reviewer describing "European" driving experience.

To me, that means a rattly Peugeot or Fiat....several steps below a Corolla, Cruze, Focus, or Jetta/Golf in quality.

This. Daughter bought a Forrester. Great ride, a lot of room, reliable.

I think I may have talked her out of the Mitsubishi. We're going to look at the CR-V and something called an HR-V made by Honda that she thinks is "cute".
My sister is a smart woman, but has no clue about cars This will be her first car purchase as her last 2 cars (Audi A4 and Jeep Wrangler) were given to her in high school and college. She doesn't have as much money as my parents yet, so that's why she's trying to keep it under $30k.

I bought a '15 as a work vehicle. My basic requirements were that it be cheap and good on gas. Didn't really like the car, but got one for less than $18k new.

I HATED it. Supposed to get 34 mpg highway.....mine got 24 at best. No power (I know), driver door and hatch never shut properly, headlights would flicker at night and sometimes go completely out for a split second, cruise control was worthless and didn't work right.....on and on. It was so bad that I took it back after a month and they gave me my old car back.

Mitsubishi is possibly the lest reliable of the Japanese imports. My first one was an '87 Mighty Max 4x4. My college roommate had a first generation Montero. The characteristic they shared was a weak transmission.

Not sure how much they have changed since their SUVs have pretty much become cars (crossover)...but I would take a Toyota, Honda, Nissan or Mazda all before I would consider a Mitsubishi.

ETA...I forgot that I would also put Subaru on the list waay before Mitsu.
