2014 Ford Expedition making a whirring noise. Almost like a supercharger sound

Wife just came home and told me. I took it around the block. No change in performance no obvious exhaust leak.
Runs good just sounds like one of those fake super charger sounds makers is under the hood.
I know it's a common vehicle on the OT, so maybe someone else has dealt with this.
No check engine lights. No change in driving. Just a noise from under the hood.

Did you turn the air conditioner off and see if the noise disappears? If it does then it is your air conditioner compressor clutch. Common issue with those vehicles

Good call. Didn't think of that. I'll take the serpentine off tomorrow and see. It does sound like alternator bearing.

That's what she wants. I prefer smaller vehicles.
I'll take the belt off tomorrow and check and see if noise goes away. Looking online it does seem it's likely something on the serpentine.
Either of those things failing wouldn't be bad at all.
Since I work on fridges and fridges use r134a it's nothing to vac and fill a car ac system, though fingers crossed it's the alternator.

Also, check the power steering fluid, though they tend to "whir" more when you are close to full lock.

If sound/pitch does not change with acceleration or deceleration, it's probably the AC system.

It made noise without turning the wheel.

It may just be the supercharger.

Alternator
Tension pulley
Or power steering pump

Idler pulley on the serpentine belt?

Idler pulley. Disengage the serpentine belt and spin the pulleys by hand. You should hear the one that’s bad. YouTube is your friend

Yet another ford with a problem.

Crazy people put this kind of money into a non Toyota or Honda. Too much risk for me.

EPAS.
Are you sure? I could have sworn my next-door neighbors was a 2014 and I changed the oil and several other things for her a couple of times and was certain it had hydraulic steering. Maybe it was a different year or are you thinking about the Explorer, that was during the time they have so many EPAS issues.
