What are the cross streets? My family owns some properties on 8th street. That's usually a pleasant part of town.

I open up Gmaps with the Advocate daily when looking at murders and locations. This one I wanted to see if it was by the that open field or BREC Park. Not whether it was EAST of 110. Was just saying I'm sure alot of people were curious this morning to where it happened, relevant to the happy gay area.

But Thanks anyhoots, MagellanBoo.
You don't need to be a pompous cockhead EVERY day on the OT, but you go the extra mile.

That's all good. I've spent the last 10 parades at 8th and Spanish Town.

Boo will fuss at you for not knowing 19th street crosses at the 1900 block regardless of several streets being renamed since 110 cut through the area.

Did you know Spanishtown is named for Spanish Settlers that trekked from Galveztown(By Freds on the River at 42) when the settlement failed?

And that street addresses in BR almost all follow a pattern of: "If Even numbers are on your left, addresses are decreasing"? Some exceptions are blvds.

See how you can share knowledge without being a pompous cockhead, Boo?

Now I learned something. I knew it and Beauregard were two of the oldest but not that it came first. I just read up on that. Beat Beauregard by a whole year. That's Good stuff.

Formerly located at the junction of the Amite River and Bayou Manchac, Galveztown was settled beginning around 1778 by Anglo-Americans and Canary Islanders, or Islenos.
The settlement was named for Spanish governor Bernardo de Galvez.
Galveztown was all but abandoned by the early 1800s, and it would exist as pasture land for decades.

The colonists were said to have moved to the area near the present-day state capitol building, known as Spanish Town.

pretty cool. LSU students did a dig there a few years ago.

Pretty certain this is the exact location today. The historical marker along 42 is just up the street a few feet east.
