If you are taking a boat out take a Bonine in the morning on the day you go out and the day that you return. My first trip out was on a boat out of Sabine Pass. It was so rough that everyone was vomiting all over the floors.

Bring plenty of reading material because they are always watching stupid shite in the rec room.

So as far as the OP. If he is still reading our replies.

You will definitely die or get seriously maimed. But good luck!

He jumped overboard when nobody was around, in November, somebody went on the back deck to smoke and heard him splashing in the water, wasn't screaming for help or anything. They said he'd been acting crazy all day, something was definitely off.

You will be a service hand. Don't worry about it no one will talk to you.

Bring a slicker suit and comfortable boots.

bullshite. Your shite gets stolen, you tell the HSE guy or Radio op, they search everyone getting on the bird. No one bothers to steal shite and they get caught if they do.

Nahh, food is decent, great for holidays. Buffet style, but it isn't always the best (they can't cook rare steak to save their lives... good at medium though). Can order cheeseburger pretty much any meal.

NOTE - I work in Deep Water Drilling. This is based on my experience, but I'm tired of people talking mad shite that isn't true about the oil field in every single one of these threads. Of course it could be true for production rigs, but in true OT fashion: that shite is for the poor trash.

Also. If you see someone in a welding cap.
Stay away from them. They are usually the laziest most annoying frickheads on the facility

Alot of these posters don't have a clue. In 22yrs I have never had one thing stolen. The food in the states was hit and miss depending on the cook. I have ate some great food. Overseas all food sucks.

There is no where near the hazing going on today like it was when I started. You can't frick with people or you will get fired. Harassment lawsuits put a stop to a lot of the BS.

When I worked in a fab shop we had some new guy looking for "the plate stretcher" for his entire first day hahaha.

I worked with a guy that was told to go get some bullshite tool. He wasn't new but they thought so. He just took the rest of the day off. At the end of the shift he told them he couldn't find it.

I worked for a large drilling company offshore and what you said is the truth. While off tour a bunch off guys duct taped a guy to a chair and put whip cream over his nipples. The victim was laughing the whole time and it was no big deal. He goes home and sues. Quite a few guys lost their jobs over it.

Same rig some guys left a noose down in the pontoon area. The pontoon hand called the office saying it was a death threat. They couldn't prove who done it so they demoted the OM and sent him to a different company.

Ok. Work in production, and when there's 300 hands on board during a shut in, shite goes missing. Period. They'll tell HSE and they'll make a show of searching people, but HSE will tell you you're fricked and to watch your stuff more carefully. Had 30+ sets of headsets out of people's rooms go missing in one week. Phones, ipods, watches, etc, regularly.

I remember when they found a stash of missing items above one dudes locker in a temp building. Was trying to say he didn't know how it got there. He was promptly removed from the platform.

And as for the food, it's not that good. We had a hell of a pastry chef on one. But that's about it. The rest is very average.

Except on holidays or when the big wigs come visit. Christmas/Thanksgiving/New Years had lobster, filet wrapped in bacon, sushi, etc.

There's no such thing as a pipe stretcher.

That's great!

I was on a drillship and they had some poor shmuck "filling up the moon pool". He was out there for at least an hour, when we were headed to the galley for lunch. Our senior hand asked him how it was going...
"Fine"
"It looks the same to me, boy. Have you been fricking off?"
"NO! I've been out here the whole time doing what you told me!"
"That water level looks the same to me, boy. Is it coming up any?"
"YES! Slowly, but I can see it coming up!"
"Wellllll... If you can see it coming up, you better keep at it. We're going to lunch."

Noble had an indecent where a couple guys found the pontoon hand a sleep and put a noose around his neck and took pictures. They got fired and he got paid. There are some very stupid people in the world. Noble don't mess around, they don't give warnings over racial or sexual harassment. If you do something stupid like this they fire you on the spot.
