I had forgotten all about Montgomery. He seemed headed to first round status a few years ago. He looked like a stud catching passes from Andrew Luck but fell off because of injuries & Kevin Hogan's struggles after Luck graduated.

i like Montgomery, but he looked terrible in the gauntlet at the combine. He has huge hands, and is built like boldin

But with these extra picks, he's very well worth the risk.
You have to ask yourself does the team currently have the lockeroom to help him in his growth in the right direction? With what we know now, the answer is cloudy. You hear stories all the time about veterans taking young players under their wing & teaching them the ends & outs of how to be a professional. We have guys like that in Brees, Strief, Evans & Colston but those numbers are much smaller than they were just a few seasons ago. With how the league is cracking down on personal contact, the risk isn't worth it when just a few years back it would have been a legitimate risk to take.
Secondly, there isn't much room for experimental type players this draft with the holes & lack of depth at certain positions. When the organization drafted Jimmy Graham in 2010, the team was in much better position to take such a risk coming off a Super Bowl title. The organization just doesn't have that luxury right now to take on perceived projects before their 5th round selection comes up.

I agree. We need to be damn sure on all our first 5 picks. Good production with a low chance of busting. I'd be cool with drafting project guys with high upside from the 5th round on. I 'd also be cool with drafting RB Terrance Magee in the 6th round if he makes it that far(He's projected as a 4th-5th rounder on sportsline). He would be a great 3rd down back and I think he has a very low chance of busting.

Saw this on Facebook a minute ago and thought I would share it with you....

Same here Lester...
Ty Montgomery was pegged as a big time NFL prospect early on in his college career. But his stock has dropped each year due to injuries and inconsistency. But he's a dynamic player with big time potential in the return game. And by all accounts, he's a great kid and teammate and coaches love him. But he does have inconsistent hands. But when they are on, he's very explosive and dynamic. He's built like a damn RB though.
A comparison Ive seen that I kinda like is that he's a better version of Josh Cribbs. Also kinda reminds me of Devery Henderson.
But he has a lot of potential as a mid to late round pick. Because if he can put it all together, he's gonna be a player.

Don't forget those Stanford brains as well. He's going to be a good blocker too because that's a must for a receiver at Stanford.

If Strong is available at 31 we should SPRINT to the podium. He is a freak stud. Thickest WR you'll ever see.
Yes
People are sleeping on him and Parker. They could turn out to be the two best WRs in the draft.
Do NOT trade up for Cooper or White with these guys being available at 13 and 31

Yeah I agree, either a WR in the first 3 rounds and another in the last 3 rounds, or WR in the first 3 and a TE in the last 3.

I wouldn't touch Nelson Agholor obviously has body image issues if he feels the need to wear calf bands and bicep bands. And he played for soft arse USC.
