To be fair that ball was nearly on his on goal line and if he had recovered it they were still backed up in their own territory. He hesitated. It looked bad in slow mo but not as bad as he's getting ripped for.

I dislike him but down think it was so bad as the pile on click media is making it.

The difference is Brees would have broken every bone in his body diving for that fumble. The dude is a real competitor who lays it all on the line.

I would understand if it was the preseason, and I would be pissed if it was the regular season. If he did it in the Super Bowl I would be be furious.

Looks like 4th and 11 or 12 from the 18. Remembered it wrong. Still I hate the guy but him diving on it prob doesn't win the game for them. I get it though.

It isn't going to win it for them on that play, but for how many straight possessions did Denver barely make a blip in moving the chains? I lost count. That play makes the game at least 9 points with a low percentage to win instead of 6 and a remote chance to win

After what Cam has done the whole season, yes I'd be pissed at him. He supermans over the goal line. He puts his head down to gain 1 more yard. But on the biggest stage you have no heart to try and recover a fumble. Come on man! Brees doesn't do any of that crap and he has dove on fumbles before because he has heart and wants to win no matter what. The MVP of the league shite the bed on the biggest stage and embarrassed the league after with the shite show press conference.

It's crazy to see people say that cam isn't a competitor, he lost two games this whole season. He is also a better QB than Brees at the moment

Isn't that how Brees basically almost ended his career on his last play in San Diego?

It actually ended up being great for both the Chargers and the Saints. SD had mostly decided that Phillip Rivers was their future and that they wanted to figure out how to avoid a QB controversy going into next season. This gave them the perfect out. Brees found his way to NOLA and the rest is history.

That'll tell you a lot about Saints history...one of the franchise's best plays ever took place in a Chargers - Broncos game.

how is it on him to lose the game when the right tackle was bull rushed the entire game. the right tackle was closer to the ball than cam because pushed back into the QB cup and knocked to the ground. the entire offensive lineman got beat up and you see what new england did with their offensive line coach after they loss to Denver. They fired him. How many QB after throwing an interception actually put forward an effort to make the tackle some just stand there. Cam took a beating because of his sorry offensive line and mainly the right tackle. Its easy to judge when you are not the one playing the game but if you were in that situation you probably would have checked out of that game long before it got to that point. I am not a Carolina fan but i dont think one man should have to shoulder the blame for loss. Its a team game and they win and lose as a team. The team is as good as its weakest link and the weakest link was their two offensive tackles on Sunday.

Cam Newton is statistically one of the worst QBs in the NFL when under pressure. It showed big time. He doesn't set his feet and holds the ball when under pressure, and depends on his athleticism to escape. Anyone who's watched Denver this year knew they were going to get great edge pressure. It is what they do.

quote:

Newton’s passer rating is a meager 71.1 (six TDs, six INTs) under pressure this season, and when he is forced to scramble, the former Auburn star has not been a dynamic threat this season. Newton was forced to scramble 58 times this year, converting 29 of those into runs for 222 yards; but as a passer when scrambling, he has completed only nine passes for 126 with no touchdowns, one interception, and only two passes of 20 yards or more.

And more:

quote:

. The Falcons defense got the better of him, and highlighted a potential Achilles heel of Newton’s: His passer rating drops by 53 points when facing pressure, compared to the 27-point drop the average NFL quarterback experiences.

That same, great offensive line protected him well all season, allowing him to have the year that he had. I don't see you giving them the credit for his good play. All the credit goes to Cam in your little brain, but none of the blame.

Brees, Brady, Rodgers, etc wish they had his protection this year. Certainly would have finished higher than 24th in passing.

Worst possible match up from the AFC for Cam.

So he Checked out of the biggest game of his career because his team didn't play exceptionally well?

So he's captain of the ship and decided to abandon ship instead of staying on it.

In the Superbowl at that critical juncture? Yes. I would be angry.

You've got to go to the ball at any cost in that situation IN THE SUPERBOWL.

Cam quit on that play, but, he quit on much more than just a play.

Probably. But the likelihood of Brees not going all out is slim. Still, if he did, I'd be upset by it and call it out of character. Just like Cam. I think it was just a glitch in the Camtrix.

I don't hate Cam at all. He's made himself an easy target for hate, but he really is an outstanding player.
