every early 2000's thread revisited produces a lot of Aaron Brooks hate.

Brooks didn't help himself with his ignorant comments and his stupid grin every time he screwed up. Fans get upset when a player makes excuses and doesn't seem to care about winning. That pretty much summed up Brooks and lead to his exit.

harles grant .Aaron brooks , Fred "Burnt toast" Thomas,

People who say these names are idiots.

Brooks made some dumb decisions but man was his first season magical. And his playoff run was the best season is Saints history before Brees. He was a victim of bad coaching.

Thomas just got old, same with Grant.

I can think of plenty of players I hate more.

Recently, Jason David being way up there. Scott Shanle as well.

This still drives me crazy. This guy was our top CB for a few years and played really well. I remember one year he was literally in the Eagles offices getting ready to sign with them, and we called him/his agent and convinced him to leave and re-sign with us. His last year with us was rough but he was old by that time. He was a very legit player for us in his prime. Only new money fans who paid little attention pre-2006 think he sucked.

I agree about Byrd.

First we overpaid and he hasn't even seen the field, but what chaps me the most is him not even being on sidelines during games or attending practices while he milks his baby injury.

He gives 0 fricks.

Bastard.

yep, definitely. I remember when he broke a hand or something and had to wear a cast. They wrapped it up huge like a cantaloupe and he was knocking balls out left and right.

Yall are all high. Fred Thomas could not hold his own against the opponents #1 receiver. Very rarely did he outplay his opponent.

Check this out. This national writer picked him as an All Pro in 2002

Sports Illustrated Dr. Z's 2002 All Pro Team

quote:

The Steelers' Joey Porter is my rush linebacker, in the old LT
mold, and with Ray Lewis on the shelf, the Bears' far-ranging
Brian Urlacher has the middle linebacker position to himself. The
Eagles' hyperactive Brian Dawkins is a repeater at free safety,
and at strong safety Tony Parrish did a great job of keeping the
Niners' secondary together during rough times. Dale Carter got
all the publicity in the New Orleans secondary, but Fred Thomas,
playing injured at times, is the real ball-hawking cornerback
.

Nah, a player's personality plays a role in how liked or disliked he is. Aaron Brooks gets more blame than he deserves for those teams failures like all qb's, and he was a better player than some would like to admit. But he was a jack arse. That smiling like a clown crap when he made a mistake is just something that is going to puss people off.

And frick Charles "I can't feed my family while on the franchise tag" Grant. The guy was an ignorant sack of shite. IIRC He was one of those guys who was talented and produced but had a huge drop off as soon as he signed the big contract. At the least he was a huge a-hole. I wanted to throw my radio against the wall when I heard his interviews.

I always liked Fred Thomas though. He seemed like a cool guy. Didn't he have an interception when he was wearing that cast thing on his hand? I tried to find a picture but couldn't.

I don't hate any Saint, but Toi Cook gets my vote for my most disliked. Throw in Carl Smith for most disliked coach.

The correct answer is always Jason David.

You guys are confusing bad decisions by management with dickhead players..

Top two on my list are Andre Royal who ruined rookie TE Cam Cleeland career in training camp by blasting him in the face with a sock full of coins breaking his eye socket and leaving his with permanent sight damage.

Also the ultimate teammate Albert Connell, arrested for stealing money from fellow players lockers including Deuce Mac.

And Who was the long snapper that suckered several players and coached into a ponzi scheme involving I.B. Freeman's favorite bitch topic.

ETA: fyi add the rapist Darren Sharper to my list,

Fred Thomas was our best corner until we got Mike McKenzie. He got hurt and he got old. His skill set declined, but the front office didn't draft anyone worth a damn or bring in anyone better. He played tough and played hurt and was a great Saint. If you hate Fred Thomas, you are either young are aren't a real Saints fan.

I get the hate for Brooks. Lots of talent. Tried really hard. Fans loved him. Then he got a contract and just kind of gave up. Then there was the 2005 season. I appreciate what he did, but I also don't like him as well.

I hate Kerry Collins. At a time we needed a QB desperately (Which is why I hate all these fans who bash Drew. They have no idea apparently.) he was traded for and came in with great talent. He just didn't care and went out drinking every night and mailed in his performance on Sundays. Then he went to the Giants and started playing well and went to a Super Bowl.

Jonathan Sullivan sucks. I think most of us hate him because of the traded draft picks that could have been Marcus Trufant or Terrell Suggs.

Victor Riley - Several false starts a game.

Jason David - The definition of burnt toast .

Josh Bullocks - Bricks for hands, the complete inability to wrap up on tackles electing to always go for the big hit and whiffing more times than not, horrendous ball skills, and no instincts whatsoever.

Roman Harper was a damn good player for us for a long time. He wasn't all pro, but he was good at his skillset.

Unfortunately, the league changed a lot from 2006 to today

Jason David

To this day I've never seen a Saints CB get beaten and burned as often as he did

To newer fans who thought guys like P-Rob and Corey White were awful, Jason David DEFINED the word awful
