The only way you can decipher a bandwagon fan from a "real" fan on an internet message board, is if the "bandwagoneer" starts a ridiculously dumb thread, such as "Who knocked out Marshall Faulk during the Pats game", or something along those lines. Other than that it's quite hard to know the difference, and I could really care less. I consider my parents and brother somewhat bandwagoneers as I would always be watching the games alone when I was young. Now I go home and their all decked out in jersey's and what not. I'm not complaining though.

why is this such a big issue still???

its not, but stick to your own group of bandwagoners and let the real fans enjoy the success on their own. Its much sweeter to celebrate with people that have stuck with the team through thick and thin, not some douche who will say when we lose "ohhhh here we go again". frick you, i hate your type.

and when we make the SB, you know, ill prob shed a tear. And you'll prob look at me like "WTF is this dude doing crying"....like i said, you just wouldnt understand

I don't really give a shite if people are Saints fans all of a sudden. However, it does aggravate me when these people rattle off incorrect info in a attempt to persuade long time fans they know heir shite. I would rather you just embrace your bandwagon persona and enjoy the ride from the backseat.

It's pretty surreal. Remebering what it was like to lose and laugh it off because I expected it, but still held my hopes up. Tears will be shed if we win 8 more

My text to a buddy in NY who sent me a text congratualting us on the win Monday night.

Those Saints fans that have had season tickets for 10 or more years really deserve mad props and total respect. That's "die-hard."

I think if the new Saints fans respected the Long Time Die Hards, then things should be cool.

I tip my hat to the Long Time Die Hards.

I am an RN so I don't ever expect to find many Saints fans or sports fans in general in the hospital industry.

The hospital industry is mostly comprised of women, and I have only met one female nurse in 7 years that is truly a Saints die-hard. The rest are stereotypical female non-sports aficionados or just team du jour bandwagoneer sunshine pumpers (Geaux LSU! or Who Dat!). Or they they are Nurse Fockers with minimal interest in sports. Bottomline: I am in Sports Talk Hell for each 12 hour shift I work.

No shite, here are some comments this year:

"Your Saints are really doing good. They made it to the Super Bowl yet?"
"It's about time they do something. They've been here for what, 40 years, and have never done shite."
"Drew Brees is really good. Is Ricky Williams still playing with the Saints?"
"How's your Saints? I hear they are playing well. Who's their coach?"
"Reggie Bush is from LSU right?"

Hahaha I can remember sitting in the dome, with it practically empty, while the colts rolled us not too many years back lol.

Amazing but I will say this, there was a ton of New Orleans fans in Chicago for the NFC championship game. I really think the Saints have a pretty interesting national following.

It's great if the Saints are picking up new fans, but there is one particular kind of new fan that sort of bothers me. If you've been behind this team for long enough, I'm sure you encountered people who seemed to actually enjoy seeing them fail and mocked those of us who stuck with them. It's something I saw a lot of not that long ago, even in New Orleans. I have some in my own family. As far as I'm concerned, they can go back to hoping the team moves to Los Angeles and shove it.

I guess if they take some kind of blood oath and cleanse their wickedness I'll let it slide.
