I'm actually pretty optimistic about them moving forward the fix is simple. We actually have DBs that keep up with receivers unlike the past. Breaux coming back Rankins, Kikaha will add to the D. Payton needs to inform the DC quit giving WR free release off the line and boom no more wide open WR of course pass rush suck but has hope with DL additions

If Breaux and Rankins come back and stay healthy, and Moore's injury isn't serious, we might be able to limp through this year.

We have young talent in the secondary, not often when this many young players get to cut their teeth all at the same time on the same team. The main problems I saw this game were guys getting faked out by receivers and guys not playing the ball. The first problem gets better with more experience. The officiating was horrible but at least half of those PIs were by-the-book PIs. Those guys are really doing their best but they need to learn to look for the ball.

They're not very good but it was nice to see some coverage sacks.

Yea, that was a massive run-on sentence.

If Dixon is in the game, we have a severe liability.

We've found some guys who can at least compete. Make no mistake, they are below average. I don't think they can play at the level we've seen through the rest of the seasons.

For our defense to become semi-respectable, Rankins is going to have to play very well and be a major difference maker (possible but I wouldn't call it likely). Breaux would have to come back and play like he did before the injury (This is probably in the likely category), and one of the other CBs are going to have to play like a legit #2 CB.

Also, this only matters if we can somehow survive until Rankins and Breaux come back. I think we need to go 2-1 in our next 3.

When do they expect Rankins and Breaux to come back? What week?

Sterling Moore (who had the INT today in the EZ) will have a MRI tomorrow for whatever injury he suffered that caused Dixon into the game

The quality of our defense is like River Parish Disposal. Their business stinks, but it's picking up.

Kekaha won't be back, Moore has been a nice addition. Hope its not too serious. Fairley has been a very underrated pickup. We show flashes, we just need to put it together.

Fairley looked great. Moore and Webb were excellent. Imagine if we didn't start a rookie undrafted FA corner in week 1. Agree on Kikaha. Guy will never play a down as a Saint.

Hopefully you mean this year. The guy isn't broken & he has plenty of time to heal until next year.

Very much so. He has the most sacks on the team at 3.5. He's ranked #3 in sacks in the NFL at the DT position. The great thing is that it isn't a fluke...he gets legit pressure up the middle every single game. He and Onyemata are a legit DT duo to deal with on passing plays. Hopefully Rankins adds to it once he gets healthy. Davison is just a run stopper, but he's pretty damn good at it for a 2nd year player.

Hopefully we can sign Fairley to a 2 or 3 year deal in the offseason.

We need a pash rush. That has been our achilles heel for years. We could have Dion Sanders playing cb and it wouldn't matter.

More tough, physical men as I have been saying all off season. Get some more meanies, Keep allen becuase he gets that out of these guys I see more physicality with these guys they trot out. Allen brings that attitude, with better talent and health it will show.

We give up more points than ever this season but it just doesn't seem as bad imo I see tons of potential here.

It's halftime adjustments that need to be worked on.

many of these young DB's we had to grab are not doing that bad and are learning. We will be deep next year when everybody is back.

They played well I thought. Offense really hung them out to dry a lot in the second half.

I'm in for a little optimism. You have to look past the stats and final scores and take the injuries into account. It was a weak unit to start with. Our hope was to not be terrible, just edge toward average. They just didn't have the depth to cope. A boost from Rankins and Breaux back should be huge factors to accomplish that.
