We are seeing White mocked to us more and more at 32 or 42, and I think most of us love the kid so I thought I'd share this video breakdown on him:

LINK

Summary: High floor, Low ceiling player who will undoubtedly be a leader in the locker room. Will probably be only a slot corner for duration of his career, lacks elite top speed and short area explosion to play outside. However, could be a 10+ year starter at nickel CB and be one of the best in the league at that spot with his ball skills and high football IQ

IF his projection is career nickel than no fricking thanks.

We find nickel corners with ease while struggling to find and keep healthy outside corners (McKenzie, Porter, Greer, Lewis, Breaux, Williams?).

They all seem to find a way to get significant injuries.

I've been watching all of his breakdowns for a while and they are pretty spot on.

Me too, I really like the guy, has a great mind for it. He is good at putting everything in terms that non-scout types can easily understand.

In this video I believe he says that Tre'Davious isn't the type of guy to shut down a pro bowl caliber WR like Amari Cooper. He gives good scouting reports but this was stupid. White shut down Amari Cooper in 2014 when he was a sophomore and Cooper was an NFL ready junior.

I've watched Tre'Davious White shut down nearly every WR that has gone against him over the last 4 years of him being at LSU. After his freshman year, teams learned to not throw at him. The only times I've ever seen him beat is when he's going up against a ridiculously fast WR, and even then, those WRs have had to be clean coming off the line (White is great at hand fighting and press coverage) to accelerate away from White.

He's going to be a great NFL player. His work ethic is unmatched, he's very very intelligent, and he's a stone morally. If Jalen Mills can start at nickel for the Eagles then White can start anywhere for anyone.

They are selling him short on his ability to cover the outside.

What is considered "elite" top end speed?

White crushed his combine 40. That definitely helped his stock as a lot of reports had his speed as a negative for him.

Honestly, I'd be extremely happy with him being the 32nd pick.

Yeah the more scouting videos I watch by that guy the more I realize he's not as good as some make him out to be.

You mean the school that has more NFL players than any other college??? And is also located in the state.....yea lets just forget about any of those players.

Still barely like 2% of the NFL. There are barely enough LSU players in the NFL for there to be 1 per roster, so it's stupid to act like it is some sort of crazy outlier that the Saints don't have any (while technically they do because Breaux counts among the number that is frequently published).

Means nothing to NFL teams. Their resources are enough so that they have scouts who cover every region equally and they are easily able to travel wherever to see players they want to see. Location has no bearing on that.

I'm just saying its asinine to ask people here to not reference LSU players...... my post wasn't from a Saints organizational perspective.....

Tre White is severely underrated by NFL draft folks. Going to be an 8+ year NFL corner back.

Great kid too.

I agree. He's a really good man to man CB on the outside. He doesn't have elite speed, but it's not anywhere near a weakness. He ran a 4.47 at the combine. That's plenty fast enough. There are legit man to man CB's in the league that run a 4.5 or even 4.6(usually b/c they are good at jamming guys at the line, which Tre White is also good at). He also has good size(might need to add some muscle though), he's good in run support, & he's really smart. I'd take him at #32 all day, but he might not even make it that far...especially with Sidney Jones & Fabian Moreau getting injured.

Personally I think he's more than a nickel guy. If our FO thinks he's just a nickel guy, then they shouldn't take him at #32. You can find nickel guys in the 5th round & 6th round. Kind of like Swann...he went late 5th.

He's what I would call a safe pick compared to most of the 1st/2nd round CB's. He progressively got better from his freshman to senior year at LSU, so I'm assuming he hasn't reached his ceiling yet. He also went from a QB in high school to a starting SEC CB in his freshman year at LSU(smooth transition). If he ends up not working out on the outside, he should be very good as a nickel guy. It's highly unlikely that he ends up a bust imo.

It's just easy for us to identify or have better guesses on LSU players. Tons on this board wanted Landry and Collins cause they knew they could go. Landry in particular. But good on the Saints for going SJB at 58 with Landry still on the board. White is one of those players. You watch them play in every game for 3-4 years of course our "fan scouting report" is going to be better for LSU players.

Yep. I try not to be biased when giving my opinion about an LSU player. I'm usually very fair when pointing out their strengths and weaknesses.

I think he's safe pick, b/c I honestly can't identify a big weakness in this game(besides his punt returning skills). He's a very solid player.

For a CB...In the 4.3's. Or very low 4.4's.

He's not fast for a CB, but he's far from slow.
