Just linking a piece as the most comprehensive and in depth I have seen on the story. It has an interview with Santini.
READ IT HERE
It's one of the strongest cases where it seems it will go completely one way or the other. He's adamant about what he has on them. He has a strong track record but the article does bring up some good question marks about his past too.
I tend to fall towards thinking the team wins. If it was legit and they could have settled with him for lower 6 figures (in reality vs. the initial demand) you think they would have. Also Loomis authorized reporting it to the league and to agencies last summer. There has to be some degree of having your arse covered involved. Benson close to no commented at a function yesterday. He did use the term disgruntled employee and scoffed though.

I'm really rooting for the Saints on this as I'm sure most fans are.
It's amazing to me how Kenny Wilkerson is so adamantly and publicly rooting for Loomis and Payton to be haunted by this, and for it to explode into something big.
That guy is such a cocksucker. He keeps stressing how this is a "FELONY" and feigns amazement that us fans don't give two craps about 150 missing Vicodin pills.
And I don't care that this Geoff Santani dude was a multi-decade FBI vet. I think he's a bitch for not "accidentally" recording over the tapes. The Saints got the problem under control - they changed the lock and the way they distributed the pills. They even got NFL Security involved.

If they had paid them, it would be conceived as an admission of guilt to everything he says happened. And when it came out later, and it would, it would bite them in the arse.

The only thing that makes me nervous about this thing is how much Benson is calling the shots here. If he's following sound advice from his lawyers and management, then I'm confident this will be a forgettable blip on the radar. If he's trying to pull some Al Davis style crap, we're screwed.

the stipulations in those settlements is that is doesn't come out. With the degree of how strongly they are standing up against it ya gotta think they are calling BS. They have a lot more to lose than Santini. I found it curious he is now the director of security for the UFL.
Benson yesterday-
“I will say it's sort of the fact (Santini) resigned and then we won the Super Bowl,” Benson said. “I'd be unhappy too if I had resigned, and (team president) Rita (Benson LeBlanc) had won the Super Bowl.”

Ok, I just skimmed the article because I'm in class. But what proof does he have outside of his word?
Posted on 5/12/10 at 9:21 am to blueslover
What I don't understand is if this guy worked for The Saint's and after Loomis told him to drop it,that i'd be taken care of, what did it matter to him how it got handled. He's your average piece of shite looking for easy money. I don't understand how he can even file suit! For what reason?
Posted on 5/12/10 at 9:22 am to ctalati32
That's what we'll find out. He sez he has video and wire tape to substantiate his claim.

Because he was asked to participate in a cover up of something so fricking stupid. How many teens raid the aderol scrip to sell/give to friends? Big fricking deal. How many suits you see filed for that? Not many. Dick wants money. Bottom line. I'd put some bangers on him. Stat.

so you fall into the "they won and I don't care how crowd"?
Your openly stating that the guy should have added on to the felony by breaking the law to cover it up?
f**k some fans are insane

Or maybe he's saying that there are people in the world who make mistakes, and there are more ways to deal with those mistakes then involving the law. How do you know the Saints organization hasn't already disciplined the people involved?

your joking right? If your not you should be.
How bout this- Take the "Saints" name out of it and put in "Falcons". You would want the max penalty on their buttocks and you know it

It doesn't matter if they disciplined them or not, it's the fact that it is an internal problem. Saints coaches stole from the SAINTS. If the Saints organization doesn't want to press charges, then who gives a shite?
Santini isn't trying to file suit for them stealing Vicodin, he's filing suit b/c they wanted him to cover it up, he didn't, and he was "forced" to quit. He's trying to make money, simple as that.

Your employer can not ask you to destroy evidence of a crime. That would put yourself at risk for criminal prosecution.
Posted on 5/12/10 at 10:46 am to tigerguy121
Very true, so the suit isn't necessarily about anyone stealing Vicodin, it's about them asking him to cover it up, correct?
Therefore, the only way he could win this case is if he had evidence that they asked him to cover it up, not necessarily evidence that they stole the Vicodin.

Supposedly he has taped conversations of him and Loomis.
What is on those tapes, if they even exist, who knows.

He conducted an interview at this attorney's office.
They're trying to keep this in the news and get the Saints to settle. Period. Nothing more, nothing less.
...and KW's hatred is hilarious as he had his own dance with the pain pills following back surgery, if memory serves. It's what led him to air the dirty laundry of the Haslett regime on SR.

No. I'm just not one who believes that the government or law enforcement should be involved in every aspect of our lives, like Big Brother.
Unless, of course, its the Falcons. Then throw them under the bus.

If this is true, then we should settle out of court and be through with it.
