I agree with this but if my employer asked me to break the law then there must be some kind of oversite. That's what this is about.

and Santini does have audio tapes of Loomis discussing the "loss" of evidence FWIW

IMO- nothing, maybe a suspension from Goodell but I think they skate

now Loomis is another story. IMO he is the one who takes the fall

We give him a large sum of money to STFU and GTFO, kind of like every major athlete does when there are legit allegations against them.

From the looks of it, that's all he really wants IMO.

Who is Patton?

And Who's blog is that?

It seems Santini is the real deal. I have yet to see anything in this guy's past to challenge an impeccable 30 year career as an FBI agent.

The two people that did have to say negative things are:

1) The guy who wrote the "authorized" biography about Edwin Edwards. Since Edwards has officially has endorsed this author and his version of the truth, I hardly think he's objective in his view of Santini. This is the guy who helped put Edwards in jail. Of course he's going to attack him.

2) Jim Brown, the former Insurance Commissioner that was insanely corrupt even by Louisiana's standards. This is the same guy that spent 6 months in jail for lying to the FBI among many other corruption charges.

This isn't some gold digging 22 year old slut trying to shake down a professional athlete. It appears the Saints screwed up here in some capacity and I hope they start cooperating fully and get this mess behind them. And I agree with the previous poster- if the headlines read "Falcons" or "Vikings" instead of "Saints", there'd be a lot more people demanding justice on this board.

tape transcripts

Seems like some of the taped transcripts have been leaked or gotten from the filing.

It's Vicodin...one arse hair more potent than Tylenol. It's not like this is about Oxy's.

The feds have had this evidence in hand for nearly a year. Investigations don't take that long, at least not ones with photo evidence.

That being said, Mr. Santini was so concerned about justice being done that he would keep quiet for only the low, low price of 2 million.

No, this is a retired FBI agent who alledgedly previously lied to a federal judge in order to justify wiretaps, trying to shakedown a professional organization. In order to do so, he wore a wire and lead people in discussions that could potentially incriminate themselves.

Facts that are agreed to by Santini are that Loomis authorized the video surveillance and then authorized disclosing the events to the US attorney and NFL Security.

We have heard nothing but this guy's side of the story. Why is he filing suit if this is not a shake-down?

He does not work for NFL security or any law enforcement agency any longer. This is about money, period.

I'm not arguing its potency. It's a controlled narcotic and the penalty for falsifying its chain of custody is a felony.

Sure they do. This is a pretty complex investigation. Are you suggesting the Feds hate the Saints or that the DEA or FBI has a personally vendetta against the Saints?

Where is the proof that he was attempting to negotiate a pay out or buy off? Are there any recorded conversations or supporting video evidence?

Reading the taped transcripts leaked to the media, it seems to me Loomis wanted to make Vitt a fall guy and take the blame for altering the Vicodin count. Santini didn't want this to happen.

The organization reported the theft of the Vicodin a year ago. He left the organization several months ago. The authorities chose not to investigate further. He went to the Saints and said, "pay me or I'll sue". A YEAR AFTER ALL OF THIS WAS RESOLVED IN HOUSE. He knew that nothing would come of the DEA investigation and that JPSO said that there was nothing to investigate, so now he wants to get paid.

Again, A YEAR AFTER EVERYTHING WAS RESOLVED.

I don't give a shite about his background. I'm just looking at the facts objectively and this reeks of a shakedown from someone who'd money hungry.

Yeah, "allegedly". This was claimed by the same guy who wrote a puff piece on that piece of shite criminal Edwin Edwards.

Dunno- maybe honesty? Dedication to uphold the law by a 30 year FBI agent?

Uh, no.

Multiple national and local media sites reported this. No, I don't have video of him requesting the amount, although that final question made me .

Oh yes, the most logical scenario is that this lawsuit was filed because Santini wanted to salvage the reputation of Joe Vitt.

Was the matter resolved? I never saw any indication that this was the case. Why would the Feds reopen it now just because Santini wants to get paid? If they had all the evidence to prosecute (or not prosecute) but declined, why reopen it now?

Can you acknowledge that the fact that you're a Saints fan has colored your perspective in this?

Seriously- if this was any other team in the NFL, this board would be on fire. Instead, everyone wants it to just go away. I've seen everything from "vicodin is no big deal" to "Santini must be a gold-digger because I like the Saints and they could clearly not be guilty" to "as long as we keep winning, it doesn't matter".

For the record, I hope the Saints did nothing wrong. I hope Santini's a complete liar. But at the end of the day, the guy's got video and tape recorded conversation that looks very damaging for the Saints FO.

I have money on the latter.

BTW, No9, they DEA REOPENED the case because it was CLOSED a year ago (in order to reopen something, it must be closed first. Just so you know...). If they previously closed the case, then they must have felt that it was resolved.

It's only being relooked at NOW because of this lawsuit. Or do you think that it's just a coincidence that they reopened the case AFTER this guy filed his frivolous suit?

It seems that way. He's really argumentative and by-the-book which I can't stand in a person.

One of my biggest pet peeves is when discussing something harmless like marijuana or vicodin and the other person says "BUT IT'S ILLEGAL!!!"

Just because something is illegal doesn't mean it's bad. I mean - could you perhaps CONSIDER the possibility that stupid legislators may sometimes pass stupid laws to score political points?

We have such a huge group of pussies in this country, I swear. We'd never have successfully fought of the British with the caliber people that we have living in America today. Just a bunch of sniveling bitches.
