Collins is not going to be a Saint. If he's cleared, this is going to reach insane levels of recruiting, and I simply don't see the Saints having the ammo some of the other teams do

There is only so much "ammo" any of the 32 teams can use to entice Collins to sign as a UDFA. It's not like any of teams can offer him multi-million contract. Someone else can correct me if I'm wrong, but the only discretion the teams have on salary is with the signing bonus and even at the high end we're only talking about $75K to $100K.

Yes, he essentially gets to pick his team, but money won't be the factor. The Saints have as much "ammo" in the form of salary as everyone else.

word on the skreet is that la'el wants to A) get away and B) play tackle so Saints are going to C) their way out of the competition.

I am sure that after this investigation that Lael wants to distance himself from Louisiana and old friends and influences here. I am sure he will want a fresh start.

He will have other LSU players from Louisiana telling him the best thing they ever did was leave the state and go to Arizona, Miami or other parts unknown.

Not to mention if I had to play for the league minimum and could choose my team, I would go a contender with the hopes of getting a Super Bowl ring early in my career.

Meh. Personal choice. Guards make good money.

I agree. I wish I was wrong. But, all signs point to this fact.

I can't explain why the Saints are going to let themselves get beat to the punch. There is very, very little risk and huge reward. But, they seem to have no desire to bring him on board.

State income tax is based on where you play the games. So if you sign with the Dolphins you wouldn't pay tax on the games played in there but would be taxed when you travel to New Jersey & Mass.

example Peyton Manning paid more taxes to the state of New Jersey in 2015 than he made playing in the Super Bowl.

THRILLHO you called it

upscale, popular restaurant.

In Baton Rouge? Must be Applebees.

"There’s possibly a loophole in the rule, if for example Bills coach Rex Ryan met with Collins not on campus or at his residence but at a local Applebee’s."

That's not entirely true.

I live in Texas, but I'm based in Chicago. I don't pay Illinois state income tax. Every state in the Union has a tax agreement for persons who temporarily work in their state, but reside in another.

Whats been horribly missed by all the mouth breathers is that if Collins wanted to play for the Saints....that's where he would be right now.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess your not a professional athlete.

by 2014, the only U.S. states with major professional teams without a jock tax were Florida, Texas, and Washington state.

If you are "based" in Chicago, how is that temporary?

I don't think the BRPD gives a damn about Collins' draft stock or how it is affected.

No shite. Did I ever say differently? I said Collins could feel betrayed by his hometown PD costing him millions of dollars. I didn't say it was the case for sure or that he should feel that way. I said he could. How hard is that for you to grasp?

I can only assume that by the way you insult anyone who you do not agree with that you may just be too young and immature to understand reality.

This is awesome. Saying you're not based in reality for thinking a player could not be mad at the PD is not an insult. The timing sucks and cost him millions. I think anyone would be upset. It seems fairly logical...again if he's completely innocent. But since we don't know, it's all opinion.
