We are looking at question marks on the o-line, at running back and at WR...shite we may see a lot of Brees forcing to Graham again

They know what they have in Strief and not some body coming in as a FA.
Also Strief rated as a top RT last year.

ya, he was elite at protecting Drew Brees, and that's obviously very important to the team....they must like Harris and/or Jones.

...I doubt that they don't re-sign Strief, but then sign another FA tackle...Harris/Jones/draft pick, imo.

question marks on the o-line

DLP was terrible and Strief is replaceable. The o-line will be fine and better than last year's.

running back

I really liked what I saw from Khiry/Ingram when they got going as the year went on. I hope they both get more carries and we add a scat back to replace slow, weak Darren Sproles

at WR

Stills has a year under his belt. Colston is steady. Meachem Mania returns to run wild! But seriously, I think we target this early on and we'll be fine.

Brees forcing to Graham again

Graham is the best offensive skill player on the team. Brees will force to him no matter what. Graham needs to get better at getting open and fighting for the ball instead of just standing there waiting for it come to him.

We still don't even know if Graham will be considered a TE or WR, as far as the tag goes...

False. He was designated as a TE four days ago and he hasn't appealled.

I think the plan all along has been to let DLP go, sign a cheap vet C/G, but let Lelito get the C job.

They'll let Streif test the market.

I don't disagree. However it looks like there will be alot of turnover on the offense this offseason. You only want unproven commodities taking so many positions. But I don't disagree it was necessary. Too old, too predictable and lack explosiveness. That had to be remedied.

Would like to bring Strief back.

He played well. I hate having a question mark at tackle.

You obviously didn't read my entire post.

Do you think because he hasn't appealed yet, it means that there is no chance of him appealing?

If they don't give him a deal that makes him happy, he will appeal... Without question.... and he'll prob win, based on the language of the CBA.

The Saints for awhile were just paying paying paying their veterans.

Now, they just can't do it. Gotta go cheap rookies, UDFAs and minimum vets at some positions. Its just the way it is.

Looks like Harris, Jones or someone from the draft.

Yeah I see a rebuild here. Sean got really lucky with the rebuild of the defense last year, which will return. I think he's only a few pieces away. They are gonna have to have an impact draft though.

It's not that we are definitely not signing them, just that they are going to be left to test the market and if they get anything over what the Saints are willing to pay they'll be gone.

So it's unlikely we resign them, but not a definite.

I agree with this. In the end, I'd expect that the Saints will probably have an option to match with Strief.

YET.

I see two guys saying Strief didn't grade out very high and one poster saying he was one of the top RT's in the league. Seems I read somewhere that he was considered one of the top guys. So which is it?

It's painfully obvious that our money issues have caught up with us and that's fine. Let's do the necessary (although unfortunate) purging and get this thing built up again. The defense is ready!

He graded out as the #7 overall Tackle (PFF)...#3 in pass blocking...middle of the pack in run blocking, so ya, he's a top RT...I don't know if the Saints will be able to afford him or even if they should try to

...if no hometown discount, I don't think he'll be cheap.

Good. Get Dlp as far from this team as possible. Draft that beast from Arkansas.
