How is Grahams shoulder? Did it weigh in on the decision?

I hate the move, but understand the move.

Like kicking onside in the Super Bowl. A frick yeah or frick off move.

Couldn't they have traded him to the Raiders though?

The first round pick is #31 out of 32. You could almost look at it like a second round pick.

Forgot to mention an All-Pro TE

would you call this a reactive decision or a proactive decision?

he was traded 1 year into his multi-year deal and we wasted lots of cap space on his deal last year and will in 2015 also

that's a black eye, dude

from everything that I have seen it was pretty much a cap neutral deal in the sense of the overall contract lengths of both players

You could, if you had a certain narrative in mind you were trying to support. Otherwise you should just say the 31st pick of the first round.

that's a sunk cost, and i get it

but if we had never signed graham to this deal, we would have had a bit more cap room last year and $9M more this year

Definitely reactive. We wouldnt have to shed salary if we didnt sign him in the first place. We wasted 9 mil an it was just last year

True, but saying that assumes that we didn't try to do this last year.

Maybe they did, but couldn't find a decent trading scenario

his stock was a lot higher last year. i can't imagine we settle for 50 cents on the dollar like we did today

i get the point in cutting and running now, but it has to be viewed as a mistake by the front office in hindsight

Last years deal is done. Obviously Sean was not happy about it either. They got rid of scouts, brought in new front office personnel and are now cleaning up the mess (hopefully).

No need to keep shitting on the them. You and Lester and a few others need your own thread to bleed all over.

He and Brees accounted for 35.6 million of your cap space. Your shitty drafting meant you couldn't field other players for cheap, hence the fire sale. Your Mercedes in the driveway of your double wide wasn't working, so now you're trying to afford a bunch of Toyotas.

I don't think it was really about cap space

that's just something we just don't know.

Plus if what is being reported by other sources is true, and he was presenting a locker room issue this year because of the issues with his resigning, then maybe the Saints didn't mind.

Idk, there is definitely more to this story
