have the patriots ever signed a guy to a big deal then dealt him the next year? usually they deal the guys at the end of deals or let them wal
I don't hate the deal
We needed a center and hopefully can finally actually draft well.

Could they not have got more than Unger and a 4th rounder?
I bet my life and my posting career they could get more than that.

that was a big part of it.

Pretty sure it was a first not a fourth

So once unger inevitablly goes down we're back to plugging random dipshits at C.
I'd have no problem with trading Graham, but I can't believe this deal was the best we could do. frick I'm sure we could have tricked the Raiders into something.
We strengthened a competitior without making ourselves any better to do it.

This is the worst part.

Your team sucks worse. Whats your excuse?
I'm not making excuses for our shitty GM. I wanted his arse gone before Smitty. We've got a Tahoe under center, a Mercedes out wide, and they're both blocked in the driveway by a bunch of fricking Pintos.
Difference is, I can call a spade a spade. Half your fanbase is coming around to realize what others have been saying about Loomis for years. He's borrowed off his arse, and now it's time to pay up.

Holy frick. That is just moronic. Even for you.

Why is everyone dismissing JG's salary when considering what we could have gotten in return?
We don't want to pay a tight end 10 million dollars, but every other team in the league is ready to surrender a king's ransom to do so? That makes no sense.
We received fair value, IMO.

I'm sorry sid, how did we improve today ?

It was everything to do with cap space. He was 8/9/10 million against it over the next 3 years, and it was obvious that you all couldn't Brees to Jimmy it to overcome the other deficiencies because of the bad draft picks.
Loomis mortgaged the future a few years ago to maximize Drew's window, and it didn't work out. I understand front offices' who can't draft for shite unfortunately.

that's the freaking problem with just grading one trade at the beginning of free agency.
Once all the moves are complete, then you can ask the question about whether or not we improved.
This is a different situation if this trade occured during the season

O/U on how many games before Unger is injured?
Posted on 3/10/15 at 7:11 pm to gaetti15
Fair enough but as of right now, for a team with a very limited window I'm not seeing how trading away your best weapon for an oft injured C and a low first helps us too much. But hey can't wait to see what mediocre DB we nab with the pick!

Could easily say the same for Graham

365 days ago this front office was happy to have him at that salary and he was a FA last year, so his value based on salary was higher

well a front office that has built a much better, more consistent team than our front office is OK with it...

most everyone is grading the signing of jimmy graham more than this trade today...and this trade today signals that it was a mistake

different discussion for a different thread, I'm convinced they are going the Dallas model, and getting another OG with the first pick, then a LB with the second pick.

Stanley Jean is going to be all pro this year.
