I thought I remembered when Payton signed his new deal after his suspension ended, that there was a clause saying he could opt out if Benson was no longer the owner.

If Payton is the guy making all the personnel decisions ( I believe Loomis is just the $ man) then a change may be necessary.

This roster has a talent problem. Last 2 very poor drafts plus the lost bounty gate picks are definitely a major factor in the decline.

We have a serious lack of depth on the offensive line and the defense as a whole. If we get a high draft pick, my hope is we trade away that pick in order to get two or three players if only from a depth standpoint alone.

This sounds great on paper unless the saints pick more high round projects like SJB.

He tried to have a clause that said he could opt out if Loomis was fired and the league wouldn't allow that.

All said that Payton's relationship with Rita is irreconcilable and he straight up hates her.
A lot of people hate that bitch. When she takes over, the good 'ole days will be gone forever!

The time time to stop watching the NFL is fast approaching.

Well then who is responsible for this $hitshow of a season? Can't just be players because the GM hired them and the coaches teach them.

There are a lot of Drew Fan-boy, Payton Fan-boys and Loomis Fan-boys out there who allow no criticism. But clearly SOMEONE is not doing a good job. If the status quo remains then 2015 will be a repeat.

Did Rita show up today with her GF? She pretty much runs the team as it is. I doubt ol' Tom even knows the Saints lost.

The Saints have a personnel issue. Lots of team's have a ton of $$ tied up in their franchise QB but still put together solid talent with depth (Broncos, Pats, Packers, Cowboys, Ravens, Steelers, etc...). Saints have missed A LOT in the last 2 drafts. Compound that with losing out on 2 potential starters bc of the bounty gate penalties.

Payton is in charge of the personnel.

I remember this going around about the time Payton signed his contract and/or when Rita was suspended. I'm sure Tom isn't doing much with the team now, and is probably just a figure head, but I'm just worried what Rita will do with it. If your grandfather suspends you for a few months from being part of the teams he owns, then you probably shouldn't be running said teams when he goes.

The only thing that will prevent Rita from running it all into the ground is, IIRC, there are 3 grandchildren and they are all "co-owners".

You also have the Pelicans aspect of the onweship deal. I don't know if Rita and the grandkids are inept to run one franchise, much less two. At least they've been around football for a while, basketball is a whole new adventure for them. Any chance Tom just skips over his grandkids in his will, and makes Dennis Lauscha majority owner?

Fountainbleau is 100 percent correct. Rita will NOT own the team. It will be a group headed by Dennis Lausha(sp). This is already a done deal. This thread is worthless. Rita will never ever own this team.

This pretty close to the deal, as I understand it. And Gayle Benson probably has more power and influence than Rita.

That's good to hear.

By the way, how incompetent are the other 2 grand kids that are "co-owners" if Rita (the one who allegedly would make the Head Coach and GM quit if she took over, and was suspended from the team) is the Vice Chairman in addition to a co-owner, and the other two are just co-owners?

Whether rita is a 30% owner or a 50% owner, probably doesn't matter, she thinks her balls will be bigger than what they are and Payton will probably be ready for new scenery anyways.

Rita WILL NOT take over in the same role that Tom Benson has.

A few years ago, when she was put in time out, Benson reorganized the management structure. He went as far as putting it in his will. The team will be operated like a corporation with a board of directors. Rita will serve on that board but it has not been stated in what capacity. More than likely, Dennis Lauscha will run the show.

Any reporter/person/cousins friends sister, etc who says otherwise doesn't have a clue what they are talking about.
