and the ONLY way to negate that is to draft well and meaningful contribution by players on their rookie contracts...

Well that helps

How about the dead money? How about the complete misses in FA with high costs: Browner, Byrd, Spiller (had a bigger contract than Ingram). Junior is clearly Drew's fault

quote:

, AND we pay him a large chunk of the available, non-"dead" cap... t

Ah, so because we throw money away on bad players, it means that Brees is strangling the team. Brilliant logic

We've had the money to get FAs, and have spent it terribly. That just expands on the bad drafts.

From 2015-2017, the Saints have 89m in dead money. the Browns are in 2nd with 45m

Think we could get some good players with an extra $89m? Hell, cut that number by 1/4 and you have enough to get some extremely talented FAs

Pretty substantial sample size actually.

11 games, in 15 years.... yeah... "substantial"... hell, Luck has played in over half that in 5 years... but i know.... he plays for the juggernaut Colts... that's an unfair comparison, right?

nah, i've seen your cap "homework".... i stand by my original statement...

look, when it comes down to it, posting these moral victory tweets and meaningless stats does nothing... you can always pick and choose some loaded stats when it comes to Brees... but you telling me that large chunk of those yards, each year he's gone for 5k, aren't in garbage time? c'mon man... or saying he's the "best of the best"... bruh...

look, i love brees as much as the next guy, don't get me wrong, but he's not above reproach and blame... he's a 1st ballot guy, no doubt... but to canonize him for something that he clearly is not is not fair, not only to him, but to the other great QBs that are slighted at his behest....

Substantial enough to be able to judge his play in the playoffs as more than an anomaly.

You know, what the 2 of us actually said

Please inform me of what I fail to comprehend when it comes to the salary cap.

Back up your opinion for once in your life

Way to dispute the actual numbers in my post...

You made the assertion, feel free to back it up.

But to answer your question, off the top of my head, NO. I'm wondering what "garbage time" situations the Saints really had this year. In 2011, we had the highest point differential in the entire NFL. We had 1 game that season where it got away from us. In 2013, I don't think we had garbage time situations outside of Seattle and St. Louis.

For this year, also not a lot of garbage opportunities: the last drive of the first falcons game, the end of the Lions game, and the last falcons game? I think his "garbage time" stats actually hurt his numbers this year. We were in most games the entire season.

4.) S. Young 96.8
5.) P. Manning 96.5
6.) Brees 96.3

That is their regular season career passer ratings. Jesus Christ, if you're gonna be a tool and condescendingly correct someone, at least get it right

Brees has a 100.7 rating in the playoffs

He might as well go. He's been the whole team for many years now. There are no other stars on this team.

i stand corrected...

so the original was right, i was wrong....

either way, he is far from being "great" in the playoffs... 11 games, 6-5 record... that's not "great"... "great" is Bart Starr, 10 games, 9-1 record...

maybe in 2009 he was "great", which as a lifelong saints fan i greatly appreciate and that deserves its place amongst Saints history and lore, however, his last dalliance in the playoffs, 3 YEARS ago, resulted in a "great" 81.9 QBR... throwing for 2 TDS and 2 INTS...

Marcus Tullius Cicero had Saints fans like you in mind:

quote:

“A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear.”

In your own words:

3rd best playoff passer rating of all-time and he hasn't been great. Lolz

You mean Passer Rating, not QBR.

And he faced a great defense. Kind of like Brady last season when he finished with 3 Tds, 2 Ints and a 76.6 passer rating.

I see you ignored the post about your "garbage time" bullshite.

You're embarrassing yourself.

There is absolutely no question Drew Brees should have been included on the original roster.

Matt Moore is probably going to be the 3rd QB for the AFC. That's how prestigious this game is

not gonna lie, that was a great year for the saints, but your statement is true mainly because of the 62-7 game vs. Indy, which skewed that stat just a tad... yes, we scored a lot of points, but Drew, just like MANY QBs in this league, racked up a bunch of garbage time yardage and a few TDs...

but as far as garbage time, here you go... you like homework, so check out 2011 week 1, vs. GB... week 6, vs. TB... week 8 vs. StL... week 16 vs. Atl... week 17 vs. Car...

2012, week 1 vs. Wash... week 2 vs. Car... week 8 vs. Den... week 11 vs. Oak... week 12 vs. SF... week 14 vs. NYG... week 15 vs. TB... week 17 vs. Car...

2013, week 3 vs. AZ... week 4 vs. Mia.. .week 8 vs. Buf... week 10 vs. Dal... week 13 vs. Sea... week 14 vs. Car... week 15 vs. StL...

and keep in mind, i'm not saying him getting that yardage is good or bad, i'm just arguing the FACT that he does get a lot of yardage after the game is pretty much decided, aka "garbage time".... and i'm not saying this is exclusively a Drew Brees thing, as pretty much all QBs, at certain points rack up yards and possibly TDs in garbage time, but, again, i'm just saying that a lot of his yardage is basically meaningless to the actual outcome of the game... it looks nice on the stat sheet, but it's not really doing much other than that...

shall i continue to 2014, or do you get what i'm saying now..... i'll keep going, if you really need me to...

look man... i love the saints... but i'm gonna call it like I, MYSELF, see it... don't like, i understand... there are many opinions here that i don't necessarily like (the rosy, "we'll be fine, it's just one game" shite), but hey, i put up with it... it is what it is... you are entitled to your outlook, i'm entitled to mine...

but quoting a Roman emperor as some sort of "gotcha", well, that's a bit of a stretch and it's a little "overdone"... but hey, you do you, bro...

i never said you fail to comprehend shite... you do a decent job... but you think WAYYYY to highly of yourself when it comes to anything Saints, and are desperate for validation on this site... it's actually quite sad, and i sorta feel for you.... it's must suck to NEED vindication from strangers on a message board that bad... but, hey.... if you need me to stroke your ego, okay... here it goes....

you are the BESTEST cap guy here!!!! no one compares to your SUPREME knowledge of anything and everything cap wise.... please teach me the ways of the cap!!! please, i yearn to have just an iota of the VAST, EXPANSIVE intellect, specifically concerning and limited to, the NFL cap...

is that enough, or do you need more?
