Should we trade our 15th pick for more picks?

Ok so I just read the 49ers traded Alex Smith for a 2nd round draft pick. Number 34 to be exact so essentially another late first round grade pick.

The 49ers now have 15 total draft picks. Could you see them wanting to trade up with that many picks? I think the Saints would be a good team to bite on something like this. I mean is a 15th pick traded for a 31st and 34th pick a good trade? We really need more players and depth for our defense.

Are there any other potential situations like this the Saints could take advantage of?

What do y'all think?

Sure. Unless there is an elite talent when it's your time to pick, it's a great idea to trade back. It's easier said that done though. Teams value draft picks, except us that is. I read somewhere that we've have the fewest draft picks in a 4-5 year span, or something like that.

is this an alt?

if someone offers us picks for a trade, we should absolutely trade back. it requires someone looking to trade up in a draft full of second rounders being drafted as firsts, so it doesn't look too good

Saints need to take BPA, high defensive picks rarely pan out worth their 1st round value for the Saints. If Bushrod doesnt sign I think it'll be an OL

We need GOOD defensive players though. Not more mediocre ones.

We can take a really good defensive player at 15, or we can gamble on a couple more Patrick Robinson's at the end of the 1st/early 2nd rounds

Theres a lot of good defensive talent in the late 1st early 2nd round this year. I wouldnt see anything wrong with picking up a late 1st and/or early 2nd to address the defense. I just think offensive skill players and OL are your best bet at 15.

With the talent likely available for the Saints' needs at 15, we should be entertaining trade offers cautiously.

In other words, I seriously doubt the Saints trade down.
