You crazy if you think we lose to the Giants at home.

Prediction for now. Will look at it again after pre season.

Floor of 7-9, ceiling of 13-3 IMO

This is what I see as well. The season is going to hinge on the improvement of the defense IMO.

: : not trolling ::

Do Saints fans feel that the talent level of this years roster is better/worse/same as last seasons team?

Players of note -
Lose: Graham, Grubbs, Lofton, Galette, Stills, PT
Gain: Spiller, Browner, Ellerbe, Unger

Obviously not having Graham hurts, but y'all will still put up points. Unger should help solidify the offensive line. Bigger emphasis on the run game should help as well with Spiller filling the role of Sproles.

Browner is a decent addition to the secondary. Any living, breathing body is better than P Rob and White. Byrd is a big mystery IMO coming off serious injury. He may never be the player he once was. Plus his contract is huge so he HAS to be elite. Vaccaro took a huge step back last season as well.

Offense will be top 10 in the league.
Defense will probably be bottom 5 in the league.

Ceiling of 10-6
Floor of 6-10

Vaccaro was hurt. Byrd was out. You totally forgot about losing Cooks for the year. Graham was severely beat up. Oline problems as well. We will field a better team this year. That I can guarantee you. The receivers will be a strength this season. Running game will be solid. Better play from the LBs as well as CB/S. Think the pass rush will surprise as well. Our offense will be top 3 and I will guarantee a top 12 defense. We will win the South.

This is one year I have no clue. I will go with 9-7. This team could end up going 12-4, 11-5, 10-6, 7-9. The defense will dictate the final record of this team.

In the two most dysfunctional seasons with Brees here they finished 7-9

People picking 6-10 are just being a bunch of negative bitches. Do I think they'll win a Superbowl this season? No I do not. But I assure there will be improvement. Very favorable schedule.

On paper you can make the case that we've regressed (production wise). I agree with you, losing Graham will hurt, but someone (or a few guys) will step up and catch those TDs, run those yards, etc...

Byrd's injury wasn't that serious. I've had that exact injury and surgery (from the same Dr. the Saints employee), and even though it took several months, I'm 100% and can do the things I used to. Then again, I'm not playing in the NFL like Byrd, so my perspective isn't exactly spot-on.

I think we need to stop trying to fill "Sproles' role." The offense is going to have a different look this year completely judging by the offseason moves we've made. The question is can the defense play up to their potential... The most notable loss, imo, is Galette. Even though I have the sumbitch with all my heart, we just weren't deep enough in the pass rush to let him go. We will need someone to step up and fill that role. Facts are, the anchor of any team is the O-Line and D-Line; if they don't play well, the rest of the team won't play well.

thats 10-6 right there by splitting with the best in our division but sweeping the bucs (they are terrible). I gave us losses to the best teams on the schedule.

look at the other teams we face. most have no QB or RB. even if we drop another game somewhere thats 9-7. that should be the floor prediction. the first 7 games are the toughest part. theres a big stretch of games against awful teams.

however, if we get destroyed week 2 at home against winston and no run game, then i will start to panic.

Exactly. With the schedule like it is, 10-6 and a division title is very doable.

One of my biggest concerns going into the seasons was the linebacker position. From reports so far we might actually have very good coverage linebackers in Anthony and Ellerbe. That's huge. We've been susceptible to teams attacking the middle of the field for years.

honestly, why are people so sure we lose week 1? an old carson palmer with no run game. the cardinals just offered chris johnson a 1 year contract because their fed up with theyre run game. they also lost their DC. Larry Fitzgerald is still good but very old, much like Colston.

Other than that, its not a terrifying offense. I wouldnt be heartbroken if we lost, but i dont think its a certainty like people say.

I guess 10-6.

I would find it hard to believe that we'd have as many injuries on defense as we did last year. They are going to simplify some things on defense this year so maybe guys will end up in better spots to make plays?

I didn't like losing Grubbs but I guess that was more of a money thing than performance? Glad for the addition of Max Unger at center though.

the teeth of the schedule appears to be:

Cowboys
@ Eagles
Falcons
@ Colts

in my opinion.
