quote:Why is it that dingle berry douche bags like yourself consider anyone that question SPs desire to go to the Cowboys a troll? It's a CONSENSUS among folks who get paid a shite load of money to report on such matters that SP is indeed interested in the Dallas job, or at the least, in holding out in order to get more money from Benson.
I can appreciate a good troll job when I see one
quote:This would be great for Saints fan, so let's hope the NFL makes SP stick around at least one more year.
First, no one is sure Payton is even a free agent next season. The Saints can apply to the league to have his 2012 rolled into 2013 and essentially giving him one more year. The NFL makes that decision.
quote:I would hope that Benson would not offer SP one more penny that what he offered on the contract Payton signed before.
It has been reported that Benson is more than willing to pay whatever it takes
quote:Total BS. Pay the man enough money and Payton would be more than willing to put up with a hands on owner.
SP has a relationship with his GM, Loomis. Jones is no Loomis. He can't help but stick his nose where it doesn't belong. I'm not sure he wants to deal with that.
quote:Fan loyalty? How long have you been a pro football fan? A couple of weeks? Players, owners, coaches, the league itself doesn't give a shite about fan loyalty so you need to drop that illusion. Now Brees...If SP stays, Brees will be why.
There are other reasons that were already pointed out, fan loyalty and Drew Brees

which makes him a shite bag in my book if he uses that leverage to get more money. Do the honorable thing and re-sign the contract with language the NFL will accept.
shite is easy to say when it's not your money.

Oh, I'm sorry, were or were you not bitching about Payton not resigning the same deal and taking less money?

Consensus amongst who? Link something -anything- showing SP saying he is interested in the Dallas job. The four letter network speculates on that coaching job every year.
This just in: Nick Saban to the Cowboys after the bowl games!!!!
See, I can make wild speculation as easily as anyone else.

Every coach since Johnson and Switzer has been a 'puppet' coach with no negotiating power at all. Gaily, Campo, Garrett and Phillips would walk through fire and glass to get a head coaching job. Parcels needed the money and was out as soon as he made it. Payton has a job. A really good job. He can have a multitude of other jobs if he wanted.
What jobs could Gailey, Campo, Wade or Garrett had besides Dallas?
Posted on 11/24/12 at 7:25 am to Wade Phillips
What is the difference if he signs today or the day before the Super Bowl?

Excellent point, and that is a great reason NOT to have signed already. It's called due diligence.

Of course you would say that, Duncan. You hate Payton and the Saints franchise because they denied you access because you're an arse.

See, this is what I come here for, an actual discussion. The rest of you turned this into a troll thread because you are either too stupid or delusional to realize that there is something to this issue. Here's your LINK showing that this issue is real and being discussed.
Glad to see some of you get it. Most of you preach this team loyalty and love for Loomis and Brees. Give me a break, it's all about the money and personal gain. Payton likely enjoyed his time and winning while in New Orleans, but the fact is that Brees doesn't have that much longer and when he is gone and your team returns to 9-7 and 8-8 years or worse, no self-respecting coach would choose to be in N.O. over similar or better opportunities in Dallas. So it certainly makes sense why someone with known ties and affinity for the Cowboys franchise would want to wait and discuss the position.
And please explain why it would make one bit of difference whether he was hired Feb. 4th or tomorrow? Not like he has to hit a recruiting trail. Sean Payton has had plenty of time to evaluate talent and will be more prepared to step in anywhere on short notice and draft or go after free agents. That is a ridiculous rationale. It is comical how few of you will acknowledge the long-term implications of his upcoming decision and that it is conceivable that this could be his only opportunity for the only job he truly desires, so regardless of his feelings for those in N.O., now is his best opportunity to move.
As for our friend "Snakebucket," sorry you wasted your time typing that. Probably took longer than you wanted to spend to get a good out of me. N.O. is a great town in many ways, I and millions of others love to come there and trash it and leave to let y'all pick up the mess. That is N.O.'s contribution to our country and I appreciate it. Also works out well that those educated in N.O. school systems are especially qualified to clean up said trash. Y'all have a great thing going down there. Keep it up.
Fat Bastard -- You are quite the detective. How did you ever blow my cover and expose me as a Cowboys fan.
And for those of you who think my choice of "Wade Phillips" was anything more than sarcasm and irony -

Did you just link an NFL.com article?
Bottom line is dallas is nothing more than leverage. SP points to a player and Mickey pulls the trigger. He would have zero input in dallas and hates guys like dez Bryant, which the roster there is chock full of. So unless jerrah let's SP blowup his roster and do things his way there is zero, zeroooo chance he goes there.

You two deserve each other.
Anyone else think they're both Jeff Duncan and he is having a conversation with himself?

Maybe if you all keep repeating that rhetoric it will make it true?? But no, friend, there is much better than zero chance he goes. His and Jerry's relationship is well documented and healthy. He likes Jerry and the organization. He will have a lot of decision making powers. (See Parcells era - wasn't most successful, but Bill certainly controlled) And the Cowboys are in prime position to explode everything and rebuild, with a coach who knows how to do it. Also keep in mind you are talking about a coach who kept Shockey on the roster, so please step down from your ivory tower. Also, elite free agents want to go to Dallas, and don't have to go there because it was the only chance they were given. So, building won't be near the project it was in New Orleans.

Yeah, sorry I don't subscribe to the board rule of only linking equally delusional articles written by the equivalent of you all with a college degree, enabling them to publish for one of those prestigious S. LA publications.

Shockey =/= Dez Bryant
Furthermore, where did I link a Jazzy Jeff article? bill Parcells and jones were at each others throats. SP likes jerrah personally. That means precisely dick professionally. It simply isn't a top tier job like you think it is...
Switzer
Campo
Bill Parcells when he was old and could no longer have any vacancy he wanted
Wade Philips
Jason Garret - this one is particularly funny
The cowboys have never hired a proven coach like SP because, pay attention, great coaches with options do not want to coach there, period. Have you not been paying attention to the last 20 years?
Now if the NYG or GB job were open I would be a little nervous because those are actually preeminent jobs. But drew has 5-7 more seasons which means SP will be coaching the black and gold for 5-7 more seasons. He can nab a Super Bowl or more in that timeframe and go out as the guy who took over one of the worst franchises in sports and won multiple championships.
If you need to ask why the top coaches want no part of dallas, here's what JErrah said about the championships in the 90s and pretty much sums up why no coach with options will touch dallas
"Any one of 500 coaches could have won those Super Bowls"

As brought forth by the Wade Phillips
"I promise to continue to live in our glorious past as that is all I have. For my present and future are filled with loathsome reality. A decrepit owner and a team with no more aspirations than a boil. Do not pity me much. For I wade pity myself enough"
